Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary, who is also famously known as Mr. Wonderful by many, chimed in on his fame and told Chris Cuomo during an interview that many people do not know his real name.
In an interview with Chris Cuomo in July 2024, Kevin explained what it meant to stand at the edge of fame and infamy. Before explaining what "fame" meant for him through an interesting life story, he pondered upon his other name, Mr. Wonderful, which he cited was given by probably another shark, Barbara Corcoran, during the Shark Tank's initial season.
He also shared that "he is the most hated man in Austria." He once met a couple during his train ride to Zurich who felt he was the "mean one" on the show. Then the host, Chris Cuomo asked him: "No difference specifically in American culture between fame and infamy anymore true or false?"
Mr. Wonderful replied with an assertive yes and remarked that once, during Season 3 of Shark Tank, the CEO called him and asked him, "How are you liking the fame?" Kevin further elaborated on his answer to the CEO and said:
"I said I'm dealing with it. I'm dealing with it and yes there are some downsides to it but I'll tell you a story that for me sums it up and I always tell this story on the two cutting edges of infamy and fame if you want to call it that."
Here is an intriguing story Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary shared about being famous
While talking about the pros and cons of "fame," investor Kevin O'Leary shared with the host Chris Cuomon how one time his daughter ended up on the "dark side" of it despite being against the people who recognized Kevin in public places and asked for pictures.
He narrated a story about one time when, in New York, they were having family time at a restaurant, and a lady asked for a picture because her daughter was a big Shark Tank fan. Kevin said he never denies a picture to kids, even if he is eating, so he agreed. This caused his daughter to lash out at him, saying that he cannot have private family time.
He then elaborated on what happened next, saying that just after five hours, he got a call on the hotel's landline, and it was her daughter asking him to talk to the bouncers of the club to let them in because they were Shark Tank fans.
Kevin was surprised by this and told his daughter:
"You told me you didn't want to be interrupted and now you go out to the dark side. Never bring this up again. If I talk to this guy and you get in that club it's over. Do we have this agreement?"
Shark Tank Season 16 airs on ABC every Friday.
