Love is Blind's Season 8 released the first six episodes on February 14, 2025, on Netflix. The second episode of the social experiment featured couples going through the first phase, blind dates.

One of the potential couple, Sara, 29, an oncology nurse, went on a blind date with Ben, 28, a developer. During their date, featured on Love is Blind Season 8 Episode 2, she opened up about her sister, whom she was close to.

After Sara mentioned that her sister was gay, she asked Ben his thoughts on the subject. Listening to her, Mason responded to Sara:

"Some of my closest friends are that way. That's why I had to make my faith my own, right? Because I come from, you know, the background of Catholicism, where that was a sin. And then I dealt with that in college, where I'm like, "I don't know if it is," because of the people I've met."

He added:

"I hadn't been around people like that growing up. And so it was like going to college kind of opened my eyes to it. And I'm like, "Wait, like, this is love." It shouldn't be something that people, you know, call out as a sin. That's why I call it faith, not religion."

Love is Blind Season 8 Episode 2: Sara and Ben discuss faith, religion, and his views on LGBTQ individuals

Sara had a date with Ben, 27, an Account Executive, who initiated the conversation about eating healthy and what kinds of snacks they like. Sara said she loved food and was a "huge foodie." When they learned their dads make a stake, they agreed to go to their parents' houses to get steak.

"Then our dad will meet, and they'll just have a steak-off," said Ben.

Further in their date, when Ben asked Sara to ask questions from her list, she mentioned:

"We talked about your religion. I wanna hear more about that."

Love is Blind star Ben replied that he grew up in a "very strong Christian" household. He talked about the Bible and the Christian faith. However, he mentioned that it was "all hard" to know for certain. He believed that there was "one true God" who loved everyone.

"I'm not religious. I was raised Catholic. I do think there is a higher power. But the main thing for me that's really tough about religion is my sister Lisa. She's like my best friend. She's gay," shared Sara.

She mentioned that Lisa was her "absolute number one." However, she expressed her concerns about how there's a lot of "hypocrisy." She added that it was not "all the time" and that there was "good." That is why she found it very difficult to go to the church and practice when:

"It's like, "love thy neighbor," but then it's also like, "LGBT is gonna go to hell." While the priest maybe has, like, sexual allegations."

Listening to Sara, Love is Blind star Ben replied that he "hated" the word "religion." I like using the word "faith." Appreciating how he termed these things, Sara asked if he would feel comfortable around her sister. He replied, "100%. Yeah."

She then asked if he would be open to going to Pride weekends. He responded that there would be "no discomfort" around that community at all. Ben added that some of his closest friends were gay.

He then shared his thoughts about his background in Catholicism and how, after attending college, he met different kinds of people. The male cast member opened up about being around people, and it "opened" his eyes during college. That was why he said it was called "faith" and not "religion."

After learning about Ben's thoughts on the matter, Love is Blind star Sara told him that she liked it. Further on their date, Ben and Sara discussed going to church and more.
