The Voice season 27 episode 6 featured the beginning of the Battles round, where each team would have two singers competing against each other. The episode dropped on NBC on March 10, 2025, and saw the coaches recruit an advisor from the outside.

Coach Kelsea decided to employ the band Little Big Town, while Michael Bublé invited Wicked star Cynthia Erivo to guide his team. As for Adam Levine, he got Kate Hudson, and John Legend had Coco Jones.

The season is supposed to feature five rounds for the singers that will ultimately lead to the winner. The first one was the Blind Auditions, which are over now. In the second phase of the Battles, each of the coaches is given special powers to make the competition even more interesting.

The first one is a saving power that will allow the big red chair residents to save a team member who has lost the battle. A steal feature will allow them to claim any of the losing battle members from other teams.

Now, during The Voice coach Kelsea's team's round, she decided to pair up two country singers, Angie Rey and Tatum Scott. They were to perform Girl by Maren Morris. By the end of their performance, Kelsea was in awe of how Angie delivered the song and remarked,

"Angie, I will tell you, you are the biggest surprise on my team. I was blown away."

The Voice coach Kelsea Ballerini was surprised by Angie Rey's performance during the Battle Premier

Coach Kelsea Ballerini on The Voice was taken aback by Angie's performance when she sang Girl paired against Tatum Scott. Angie hails from Nashville and is a country music star.

During their blind auditions, both the girls sang a song about heartbreak. Thus, Kelsea decided to take it up a notch and gave them Girl, which she says was a more deserving tune for both of them.

The lyrics of the song inspired individuals to pick themselves up when nothing is going right in their lives and to "stop crying." Kelsea said that she wanted the duo to feature in a melody that is on the hopeful side.

Talking about her performance, The Voice contestant Angie said that she can relate to the song because she was once in the position herself. She used to alter her looks and then be harsh on herself for looking a certain way.

After channeling all her feelings into the song at the battle, Angie won the hearts of not only Kelsea but also Adam Levine. He remarked,

"Angie, there is an explosive quality. You have so much power and electricity in your voice."

The coaches were mainly shocked because, during the blind auditions, Angie was not the same. She made a few mistakes in her note delivery, but she gave an excellent performance, according to the coaches. Talking about the same, Kelsea said,

"Angie’s voice, I hear a little country in there, I hear pop and soul...she's full of surprises."

The surprises of the night did not end at this point. Turns out that Coach John Legend has been eyeing Tatum for his team all this time. After the girls left the stage, he turned in for a surprise and pressed his steal button.

This made Angie even happier because she and Tatum had grown close throughout the competition, and she loved the idea of her friend staying. Talking about her The Voice coach previously, Angie had said,

"I would love a career like Kelsea’s. She writes from the point in her life that she’s at, but it really does transcend so many generations of people. Her songs have gotten me through so much. If someone blocks Kelsea Ballerini, I might throw hands."

The Voice Season 27 drops new episodes weekly on Mondays at 8 PM Eastern Time on NBC. Later, they can be watched via Peacock.
