He uses other bots as his allies, extending his programming to them and ordering them during the tournament.
After Xan took over Liandri's server, he kept changing the arena's layout, from crushing the soldiers or suddenly appearing from the platform above them. These factors and the small triumph of Xan throughout the episode helped him win the tournament.
