Apple TV's Silo Season 2 is halfway through its season, with its protagonist Juliette learning truths about the world of Silos after stepping out from her home Silo 17.
Silo is based on Hugh Howey's trilogy of books, and Seasons 1 and 2 cover the first book in the trilogy titled Wool.
While readers of the books are always fast enough to predict what is coming next in the show, it looks like showrunner Graham Yost does not want any spoilers for Silo Season 2 and has thus changed the ending from the books.
While Silo Season 2 follows the Silo 18 rebellion as shown in Wool, it can be speculated that Bernard will survive the cleaning fire in the finale (unlike the book Wool). This is especially because Yost has hinted that Bernard's character and his role in Silo 18 are different from Howey's books.

How did Howey's book Wool end? Exploring the source material for Silo Season 2
While Silo Season 2 has followed Hugh Howey's novel Wool closely, there are some changes made in the novel to accommodate the television adaptation. Showrunner Yost has jokingly said in many interviews that he does not want people to read Howey's books now, as they want to show their take on the story.
In an interview with CBR, Yost discussed the differences in Season 2 and Howey's Wool,
''I would say that the biggest changes are in Silo 18...the way we built the rebellion is somewhat different, partly because we sort of changed the character of Bernard. Even in the first season, he wasn't so obviously a bad guy. We wanted to go more into that. The show really fills out the story of the rebellion, and it happens in a different way. [The changes are] what gave us a season of television, frankly.''
According to the book, after her cleaning incident, Jules is banished from Silo 18 but maintains contact with Lukas and learns about the rebellion brewing. However, Bernard and Sims try to keep things under control, but Silo 18's inhabitants have waged a war.
Wool ends with the rebellion at its peak, and Lukas is still forced to shadow Bernard, who gives him cleaning duty. But Lukas learns about Bernard's evil plans and possible connections to the murder and is asked to go out to clean.
The book ends with Juliette entering the chamber to save Lukas, but instead, she finds Bernard there, and they both are entrapped in a cleansing fire. While Juliette recovers and is made the Mayor of Silo 18, Bernard dies in the fire.
How could Silo Season 2 deviate from Hugh Howey's book Wool?
Showrunner Yost has teased a major change in Silo Season 2 in an interview with ScreenRant.
“In a slightly different way, but yes. To a degree. There’s a big surprise at the end of the season—and that’s all I’ll say.”
Combining Yost's current and past remarks about changing the rebellion story of Silo 18 and the character of Bernard, it is possible that his character will not die in the show, as he does in the book after succumbing to the cleaning fire.
While Silo Season 3 cast is not confirmed yet, it is possible that Tim Robbins will reprise his role as Bernard after surviving Silo Season 2.
In addition, Juliette is made the mayor of Silo 18 at the end of Wool; it is yet to be seen whether the show will keep this particular detail or deviate with a 'big surprise' even for the readers of the book.
