Dune: Prophecy finally concluded Season 1 on Max and is already in the works for a Season 2.
Frank Herbert's Dune novels, which came to life with Denis Villeneuve's Dune movies, found a different story in this Max series based on Herbert's son, Brian, and Kevin J. Anderson's Sisterhood of Dune.
The show is set 10,000 years before the events of the Dune films and is the origin story of the Bene Gesserut, responsible for the inbreeding of Paul Atredies, Dune's protagonist.
Timothée Chalamet's Paul is also the main character in the third and final Dune 3 movie, which will complete his character's arc.
While the Max series is set in a different era, it lays much groundwork for Dune 3.

Dune: Prophecy introduced major species from Herbert's universe that will also appear in Dune 3
As stated above, Dune 3, titled Dune: Messiah, will see the rise of Chalamet's Paul Atreides after he has broken off with the Bene Gesserit. Assuming that Dune 3 will faithfully adapt Herbert's novel, Dune: Prophecy did some needed groundwork to understand the species that will be introduced in the third installment.
Dune 3 will introduce the sect of the Bene Tleilax (similar to Bene Gesserit), which has genetically modified humans. One of these species is the Face Dancers, also introduced in Max's Series. Theo was revealed to be a Face Dancer, who Valya used to avenge his brother's death. Face Dancers, as explained in the Dune universe, are shape-shifters who can take the identity of any human.
Dune: Prophecy sets up Jason Momoa's return in Dune 3
Jason Momoa played the character of a swordmaster, Duncan Idaho, in the first Dune movie. But he gives up his life to help Paul and Jessica escape at the film's end. However, it was revealed that Momoa will reprise his role as Idaho in Dune 3 as a Ghola, a species also introduced in Dune: Prophecy.
Gholas, like Face Dancers, are also genetically created humans who can be recreated to their former selves from their remains/ashes. However, since they are not exactly the same person, they will not have the characteristics of their formal self.
In Dune 3, Idaho is sent to kill Paul but instead falls in love with his sister Alia, who will be played by Anya Taylor-Joy.
The species like Face Dancers and Gholas, which will be introduced in Dune 3, are seemingly new for fans unfamiliar with Herbert's books. But thanks to Dune: Prophecy, they have already laid the groundwork for them.

While Bene Gesserit is a shadowy sect in the Dune movies, it will have a major role in Dune 3, which will also see Paul Atreides' arc come to fruition. While Villeneuve does not plan to develop the Dune universe further after Dune 3, Paul's chapter will end.
And since Paul is deeply connected with Dune: Prophecy's Bene Gesserit, which did an intensive inbreeding process for 10,000 years to produce their savior, Paul Atreides.
However, he took a different route and broke off with their sect. While the first two Dune movies did not dwell much on this secret sect, the Max series was its origin story.
