HBO's The Last of Us will soon be returning with its second season. It comes two years after the first season dropped on Max with major critical acclaim. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey starred in lead roles.
For those who are unaware, this post-apocalyptic drama series is based on the much-loved video game series by the same name. The first season mainly followed Joel Miller and Ellie, who navigate their way through a dystopian land 20 years after a deadly virus initiated a global pandemic. Joel is a middle-aged man who lost his daughter, while Ellie is a strong-willed teenager who is immune to the virus infection.
Sources say that the show's second season will be a partial adaptation of the game's sequel, which was released in 2020. It will follow five events from what we witnessed in the first season. Kaitlyn Dever (Unbelievable, Dopesick) will join the cast as Abby.
Here is the information about how to stream The Last of Us ahead of the release of its second season.

What do we know about Season 2 of The Last of Us? Details revealed
The official description for The Last of Us Season 2 reads,
“Five years after the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie are drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind."
Chernobyl fame Craig Mazin returns as the co-creator for this season along with Neil Druckmann. When asked about the dramatic tension in the upcoming season, Druckmann told The Hollywood Reporter,
“For us, everything is drama. Even the action sequences are drama. [In] season one, we were picking and choosing our moments because we weren’t sure what we were doing. Now we know what we’re doing. We swung for the fences with some of this. There’s pretty intense stuff you don’t even see in the trailer. People ask if season two is better. I often say, ‘It’s crazier.’”
The second season will show Ramsey and Pascal reprising their roles as Ellie and Joel. Rutina Wesley and Gabriel Luna will also return to the cast. Dever will join them this season along with Isabela Merced, Danny Ramirez, Young Mazino, Tati Gabrielle, Jeffrey Wright, Ariela Barer, and Spencer Lord. Catherine O'Hara (Schitt's Creek) will guest star.
Speaking about his working experience with this new cast, Mazin told Deadline,
“The first week of shooting on any new season of any show is inherently difficult because you’re getting back to work. You got to shake up the rust a little bit. We’re working with new actors playing new characters, we’re discovering new things and this week went about as well as I could have imagined. We did get to work with some of the new cast; they’re outstanding. And the material that we shot and the new elements that we’ve included are terrific."
