The season features queens from the Drag Race franchise, mainly the original one, as RuPaul invites the contestants to compete against each other once again and to prove their worth.
The winner is awarded a cash prize and gets a spot in the Drag Race Hall of Fame. The format of the show resembles that of the main series unless there is a twist announced by the host.
Each episode consists of a maxi challenge, and then it moves towards a lip sync. There are times that Ru, in an attempt to make the challenge more interesting, alters the entire thing and installs twists.

Recently, RuPaul's Drag Race season 17 aired its finale on April 18, 2025, and crowned the season's winner to be Onya Nurve among the top four queens, including Jewels Sparkles, Leci Love, and Sam Star.
Thus, the ones who were not crowned will have a chance to enter the Drag Race Hall of Fame if they play their cards right at this opportunity given to them.
During the season 17 finale, the queens were asked to compete in a lip sync battle and show their talents. They were to perform a song that was their own and even sing the lyrics.
After each of them is finished, two queens will be shortlisted to go head to head against each other, and finally, the winner was supposed to be crowned.
Jewels and Onya were shortlisted. The former queen performed a comical song, and the judges noted how this brought a fresh perspective to the whole battle.
When asked why she should win the season, Jewels said that given the fact that she is an immigrant child, it would be a lot for her community if she wins this award.
As for Onya, she has been true to herself all season long, and even during the finale, she served her confidence on a hot platter, and the judges devoured the same. They liked her "attitude" and approach towards the competition as she did a number of a song that highlights all her achievements till now.
For the final battle, Jewels and Onya went against each other on Lady Gaga's latest single, called Abracadabra. Finally, Onya was crowned the winner and took home the prize money and the title.
However, it will be interesting to see if any of the top 4 contestants from this season will feature on RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars and how they will fare against equally seasoned queens.
