Blue Bloods is headed toward its conclusion after 14 exciting seasons, and to express gratitude towards the fans, CBS has released a special episode of the show. Titled Blue Bloods: Celebrating a Family Legacy, the feature aired on CBS on November 29, 2024.
The television special celebrates the previous 293 episodes of the police procedural drama and features cast interviews as they recall their most memorable moments from the sets. The event is hosted by Entertainment Tonight anchor Nischelle Turner.
With the release of Celebrating a Family Legacy, CBS paused the regular broadcast of the series for a week. After the airing of the special, only two episodes are left until the show’s end.
Blue Bloods: Celebrating a Family Legacy: Release date and streaming options
Blue Bloods: Celebrating a Family Legacy premiered on CBS on Friday, November 29, 2024, at 9 PM ET. If you missed the one-hour special, you can stream it on Paramount+. The streaming platform released the episode a day after its television premiere, i.e. on Saturday, November 30, 2024.
You need to have an active subscription to Paramount+ to stream the special and other episodes of the show. The streamer offers an ad-supported Essential plan at $7.99 a month, and an ad-free Showtime plan at $12.99 a month. The synopsis for Celebrating a Family Legacy reads:
“[The episode features] new exclusive interviews with the stars and recurring guest stars who share favorite memories and behind-the-scenes moments from the past 14 years.
The special serves as a love letter to the loyal fans who had dinner with the Reagan family every Friday night and upheld BLUE BLOODS as one of the top series on television.”
CBS paused the regular Blue Bloods broadcast to air Celebrating a Family Legacy
On November 29, 2024, CBS did not air any new episode of the series and instead broadcast the special, Celebrating a Family Legacy. The previous episode of the series, The Gray Areas, came out on November 22, 2024.
From next week, the show will once again follow its regular schedule, airing new episodes on Fridays. Blue Bloods Season 14 features 18 episodes, and will release its penultimate episode, Entitlement, on December 6, 2024. The synopsis for Entitlement reads:
“Eddie and Badillo try to help a man whose apartment has been taken over by a squatter who also happens to be Jamie’s confidential informant.”
“Also, Danny and Baez investigate when a star student is found dead in her dormitory; Frank suspects the governor has an agenda when he comes to him with a proposal; and Erin oversteps when she tries to play matchmaker for Anthony.”
Season 14 episode 18 will serve as the season as well as the series finale. The episode, titled End of Tour, will be aired on CBS on December 13, 2024. The series made its debut in 2010 and went on to become one of the most popular shows on CBS. It follows the Reagans, a family of police officers.
The show stars Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Will Estes, Bridget Moynahan, and Len Cariou in the main roles.
