Tristyn Bailey was a 13-year-old girl from Durbin Crossing in St. Johns County, Florida. She was the daughter of Stacy and Forrest Bailey and had four siblings. Tristyn was a student and cheerleader at Patriot Oaks Academy, known for her bright personality and love for life.

However, her story took a heartbreaking turn on May 9, 2021, when she was found dead after being reported missing. Her tragic murder shocked her family, friends, and the entire community.

On the night of May 8, 2021, Tristyn left her home to meet a friend. She was last seen walking with Aiden Fucci, a 14-year-old boy who attended the same school and lived nearby. Surveillance footage captured them walking together near a retention pond. Later, the camera showed Fucci walking back alone, carrying his shoes.

The next morning, on Mother’s Day, Tristyn’s family reported her missing. Just hours later, her body was found near the pond. She had been stabbed multiple times in a brutal attack.

Aiden Fucci was a classmate of Tristyn’s at Patriot Oaks Academy. According to friends and his girlfriend, he often talked about killing people. He even described a plan to take someone into the woods and stab them.

Despite his disturbing statements, no one thought he was serious. However, evidence later revealed that he had a deep fascination with knives.

Investigators discovered that Tristyn had been stabbed over 100 times. A knife tip was found in her scalp, and a matching buck knife was later recovered from the nearby pond.

When police searched Fucci’s home, they found:

  • Wet clothes and shoes with bloodstains
  • Blood and dirt in the bathroom sink
  • A knife sheath in his room
  • A notebook with violent drawings

Additionally, cellphone records, Snapchat messages, and interviews with friends provided further evidence of his involvement.

Fucci was initially charged with second-degree murder, but due to the crime’s brutality, prosecutors upgraded it to first-degree murder. Since he was a minor, he could not receive the death penalty but was tried as an adult.

In February 2023, just before his trial began, Fucci pleaded guilty. On March 24, 2023, Judge R. Lee Smith sentenced him to life in prison. However, under Florida law, his sentence can be reviewed after 25 years.

Tristyn’s murder deeply affected her community. Neighbors, classmates, and strangers came together to support her family. People lit candles, wore teal ribbons (Tristyn’s favorite color), and held memorial events in her honor.

Her family described her as a “sweet girl” who brought joy to everyone around her. Even in their grief, they remained strong and thanked the community for their support.

The tragic death of Tristyn Bailey is a heartbreaking reminder of how unpredictable and cruel the world can be. Her story touched thousands of hearts, and her memory continues to live on. While justice has been served, nothing can undo the pain her loved ones feel.
