Severance Season 2 kicks off with the aftermath of season 1 in which the innies used the Overtime Protocol for a brief escape into the outside world. The latest chapter opens with Adam Scott's Mark S. desperately running through the hallways to find Ms. Casey.

While he didn't immediately find her, Mark did encounter three employees, whom he couldn't recognize. The running scene has caught most of the fans's attention as it's not just visually striking but emotionally gripping.

After watching the first episode of Severance Season 2, many might wonder how challenging the filming might be. As mentioned above, Ben Stiller and Adam Scott shed light on the process and revealed that it was no small feet.

Surprisingly, they divided the opening scene into 10 smaller segments, and took almost five months to film each. While some of the parts were captured with Scott running on a treadmill in front of a green screen, the team utilized a robotic arm for different segments using cameras.

While explaining the complex logistics of the shoot, Adam Scott said:

"Each one had a different need in terms of what had to be done with the set."

He continued:

"There was one where we had to pull one of the walls out, and we were using this machine called a Bolt arm, that’s a motion-controlled robot arm with the cameras on."

Not only this, but they even had to remove the walls for the desired scene. Another big challenge in filming Severance Season 2 opening scenes was the schedule of the actors.

The role demanded notable physical effort from Scott, who had to repeatedly sprint for the scene. However, the actor didn't receive training as running itself became the practice.

As for the inspiration, Scott humorously mentioned the Hollywood A-lister Tom Cruise saying "Anyone that wants to train for running of any kind, just watch Tom Cruise". Since Cruise is recognized for his action-packed films, Scott studied his technique as a guide.
