How did Season 1 of The Night Agent end? A quick recap before you watch Season 2

Season 1 of The Night Agent ended with intense action drama revealing why Emma and Henry (Rose's uncle and Aunt) were targeted by Ellen and Dale. This further connected Peter and Rose to a larger conspiracy that was brewing in the US government. Ultimately, they end up saving President Travers' life.

The political action thriller of Netflix is based on Matthew Quirk's novel and follows Peter, an FBI agent who works in the basement of the Whitehouse. His life turns upside down when he receives a call from Rose whose uncle and Aunt have been brutally murdered.

Season 1 opens with Peter stopping a bomb in the metro in The Night Agent

Season 1 of The Night Agent begins by showcasing Peter saving several lives by stopping a bomb in the metro. Being impressed by his potential, Diane Farr, the White House Chief of Staff, assigns him with the responsibility of manning the "Action Phone", a secret emergency line for covert operatives to use when they are in crisis and need immediate assistance. The phone rarely rings in the series but it eventually becomes an anchor point.

One day Peter receives a call on the Night Action Phone from Rose Larkin, a young tech entrepreneur who is fleeing for her life. Peter gets to know that Rose's uncle and Aunt were covert operatives of the government who were brutally murdered in their home. While struggling they ask Rose to inform the emergency hotline, the Night Action Phone. We also get to know that Peter's father betrayed the country and to counter his guilt he started working as a Night Agent.

From here, Rose and Peter together embark on a mission to discover the truth behind Aunt Emma and Uncle Henry's death and unfold a series of conspiracies. This connects them to a larger web of corruption that is taking place in the US government.


Peter and Rose prevent the killing of President Travers in The Night Agent Season 1

Season 1 comes with some personal losses for Peter as well. Peter loses his close friend, Cisco from his FBI academy days, when the season antagonists Ellen and Dale chase him down and kill him.

In The Night Agent, Diane Farr drives Peter and Rose to Camp David to stop the attack on the President. She attempts to talk her way through security while Peter and Rose hide in the trunk of the car, hoping to avoid detection. When they are inside the camp they realize that the plan is much larger than it seemed. Peter fights with one conspirator in the camp. The duo also manages to successfully defeat and kill the assassins, Ellen and Dale.

Rose tries to restore communications in the camp. Peter and Rose manage to reach out to the President's security team and inform them about the attack.

Chelsea cleared a bomb at the President's house but one more bomb was armed. Peter and Rose get to know about the bomb planted in the President's helicopter. The assassination is plotted by high-level government officials including the vice president. As the president is about to travel, Peter and Rose intervene just in time and make sure that the president is not in the helicopter when it explodes.


Following this Peter gains the President's trust, and requests him for access to his late father's classified file. He learns his father was falsely accused of treason and was killed while preparing for an undercover mission. Rose decides to rebuild her life after her uncle and aunt's death.


The Night Agent Season 2 will be streaming on Netflix from January 23, 2025.
