Hulu's political drama series Paradise concluded its Season 1 with an intense finale.

The central mystery around President Cal's murder was finally resolved after it was revealed that he was murdered by librarian Trent, who was one of the workers who helped build the bunker.

The final moments of the finale saw Xavier Collins leaving the dome to go into the outside world to find his wife, Teri. Since the Hulu series is already greenlit for Season 2, Xavier's investigation will be the central part of the sophomore season, where he will try to find out what happened to the outside world.

More on the Paradise Season 1 finale and what it means for Season 2 in our story.

Xavier leaves Paradise in the Season 1 finale

After the central mystery around President Cal's murder, the next big mystery for the show is about the outside world, which is not resolved in the finale. After solving the primary murder mystery in Season 1, the sophomore season will be Xavier's journey to go and find his wife.

But before that, Xavier's daughter Presley was in grave danger after Sinatra ordered Jane to kill her because her father was creating problems for her.

When she asks for Xavier's game console, and Sinatra denies it, Jane snaps and decides to switch sides. She shoots Sinatra in the neck, which puts her in a coma, and reunites Presley with her father.

After knowing that his children are safe, and with a little push from them, Xavier finally decides to step out of Paradise to find out if Sinatra is telling the truth about his wife's survival and what is the condition of the outer world.

The last scene of the Season 1 finale has Xavier finally channeling his action hero and setting off in a helicopter to find Teri, with only coordinates to her known location, Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Georgia.

What could Xavier leaving Paradise mean for Season 2?

No longer bound by the task of finding Cal's murderer, Xavier's main focus will be to look for his wife and other survivors on the surface. After the shocking discovery that the nukes sent for the US never landed on the country were revealed, the chances that there is still life out increased.

However, while the nukes didn't go off, there was still the climatic apocalypse, which could have wiped out the remaining signs of life on the surface, and there are chances that Teri and the others are not alive. Moreover, Paradise was built three years ago, meaning she would have tried to contact her husband if she had been alive.

The central mystery and plotline for Season 2 will be centered around the outside world and the changes it underwent after the catastrophe.

A Reddit user, u/NomDePlume007, even came out with a possible explanation,

''I think we'll find out that there are other communities around the world, in shelters perhaps, that survived the catastrophe...I was wondering why there have been no radio signals detected from the "outside," given satellite radio and even internet is now commonplace. Could be explained away by atmospheric dust from the super-volcano...''

As teased by the last season, Xavier's adventure in the Season 1 finale has set an exciting Season 2 with many opportunities. Teri could be alive and living within one of the communities like her husband, or the world could have rapidly changed, and Teri could have died. But that's for Season 2 to deal with.
