The finale of Yellowjackets Season 2 was filled with multiple plot twists. However, viewers were shocked to find out about Natalie Scatorrccio's tragic death in the finale. Natalie, played by Juliette Lewis, was one of the show's beloved characters whose survival skills often rescued the stranded girls from dangerous situations.
Misty, played by Christina Ricci, was responsible for the death of Natalie even though it was an accident. In a scuffle Misty tried to stop Lisa, one of Lottie's followers from using a gun, however, Misty mistakenly Natalie injected a lethal dose of poison (phenobarbital injection) which caused her death. When Natalie was almost on the verge of her death, she was transported to a vision where she was on a crashing plane accompanied by a young Lottie, Natalie, and Javi.
Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nicker-son, the plot of Yellowjackets follows the life of a high school girls' soccer team whose plane crashes in the middle of nowhere. The series follows a dual timezone where it alternates between the girl's brutal survival in the past and the chaotic lives of the present.
Natalie's death was confirmed by the Yellowjackets Season 3 trailer and teaser, which showed photographs of the plane crash survivors attending Natalie's funeral while Misty is shown burning her photograph.
Even though Natalie in the present timeline is dead, her teenage part, played by Sophie Thatcher, has screen time. In the past timeline, she was crowned Antler Queen by the girls in her group, indicating that she would have a prominent storyline in Season 3. Yellowjacket Season 3 is set to release on Showtime on February 14, 2025. The first episode will air on on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 8 PM ET.

After the Yellowjackets Season 2 finale ended, Christina Ricci opened up about her character Natalie in the thriller series. She revealed that Natalie's death was kept a secret from the cast, and it was a shock to them, too.
In an interview with Variety, she said:
"I didn't know until very shortly before we shot the episode. We all love Juliette. I love Juliette. We've all gone through so much on the show and gotten so close and fought and reconciled and love each other-we're like sisters"
Hinting further that Natalie's death would take a toll on Misty and her future storyline. She stated:
