Netflix's One Day star Leo Woodall is all set to star in Apple TV+'s Prime Target, a conspiracy thriller, as a math genius.
Blade Runner's Ridley Scott is an executive producer, and the miniseries is created by Steve Thompson.
Prime Target follows the story of a math genius obsessed with prime numbers, whose discovery would allow him to access every computer in the world. But since this knowledge can turn lethal if given in the wrong hands, he is placed under the care of a surveillance agent, who thinks that a government entity is after him.
Woodall recently opened up on his experience of playing a math genius on Apple TV's next and what we should expect from his character. He is also set to star in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy alongside Hugh Grant and Renée Zellweger.
More on Leo Woodall's character in Prime Target in our story.
Leo Woodall opens up on his character in Apple TV's Prime Target
How would you play a math genius whose discovery might hold the key to all of the world's computers? Ask actor Leo Woodall, who plays a math genius in his next, and he will tell you.
Woodall plays Edward Brooks, a math genius obsessed with prime numbers as he believes they hold the key to unlocking any computer in the world. But mistake this obsession as no ordinary one, as Brooks is obsessed with prime numbers to the point that it affects his personal relationships.
It looks like being a genius comes with its own set of problems, as the people around him think he is a self-involved, unlikeable person. Since Woodall is not like his character in real life, he revealed how he prepared for his character in Prime Target, in an interview with Screen Rant:
''For a lot of it, I had the preparation period of getting familiar with the math itself and spending time with our genius math consultant. That was one part of it.''
He added:
''I think I had to mentally start [preparing] because I'm someone who is friendly and thinks I'm decent with people, and he is not like that. He doesn't care. He's not doing niceties. For me, it was just mentally preparing for that, and it was hard. There were a lot of times where I wanted to just smile at people, and I wasn't allowed.''
Woodall also revealed that they had a math consultant on set, and he spent days with him understanding the concept of the show and how the 'key' works:
''...our consultant did paint the picture quite well as to basically how the key works...It's so long that no one could ever possibly guess it unless you have a formula. This prime finder, as he calls it, basically is that. It does the calculation for you and, bang, you've unlocked whatever you need to unlock. That, for me, was essential to understand.''
Who is in the cast of Prime Target?
Woodall is joined by a stellar cast of actors, who are as follows:
- 1) Quintessa Swindell
- 2) Stephen Rea
- 3) David Morrissey
- 4) Martha Plimpton
- 5) Sidse Babett Knudsen
- 6) Jason Flemyng
- 7) Harry Lloyd
