Yellowjackets, the American thriller drama, follows a female soccer team who are left stranded in the Canadian Wilderness after their plane crashes.

While the group tries to stay put initially, they start losing members one by one, who succumb to their fate.

Jackie was the group's unofficial leader in Yellowjackets Season 1, and her character was in stark contrast with the others. She did not have any survival skills, because of which she was the first member of the group to die.

In Season 2, Jackie has a fight with Shauna, after which she leaves the cabin and walks outside in the cold. She gets isolated from the group, and she even tries to light a fire but eventually succumbs to the snow and freezes to death.

More about Jackie in Yellowjackets in our story.

Jackie's death in Yellowjackets proved that she was a misfit in the group

Even after being stranded in the Wilderness, Jackie never stopped believing the group would be saved. While this was optimism on her part, it kept going stronger as the season continued, ultimately changing into delusion.

While the group realized that they would have to adapt themselves according to the new normal, i.e., the Wilderness, Jackie never tried to cope with her new reality. She never left her own ways and urged the team to follow the same routine that they normally do. She scheduled dance parties and DIY Homecoming, symbolizing her not being ready to say goodbye to her previous life.

Jackie also did not fit in the Yellowjackets' group dynamics anymore, because she was not ready to accept that violence and brutality are needed to survive in the Wilderness. Where the other girls were willing to go to any extent to survive, Jackie still held onto her rules and ultimately got away from the group, literally and metaphorically.

Her fight with Shauna over Travis was the last resort, after which the group sided with Shauna, and she was left alone in the snow. She isolated herself from the group and went into the Wilderness with zero survival skills. She lay defeated against the snow and ultimately froze to death in the snowstorm.

Jackie was the group's first victim of cannibalism in Yellowjackets

Jackie's misery did not stop with her death, and the worst was yet to come for the girl. The group, especially Shauna, was devastated by her death because she was the first girl to have died in the Wilderness. Shauna was not ready to accept that her friend had died and even applied makeup and talked to her corpse.

The group finally decided to burn Jackie's body and hold a funeral pyre for her. Instead, in one of the most haunting sequences of the show, they were attracted to the freshly cooked body because they were starving and started feasting on Jackie's body.

They throw snow over her body to not burn it completely, and Jackie becomes the first victim of cannibalism by the girls. This sequence also symbolizes the dark turn the group ultimately took after Jackie was dead. With Jackie, the misfit of the group, gone, the group went totally crazy and violent, adamant about surviving in the Wilderness.
