Monica and Rachel get their old apartment back after performing a one-minute (off-screen) make-out scene for Joey and Chandler.

The Friends series has given us various memorable moments in television history. One of the most memorable moments was when Chandler and Joey won Monica and Rachel’s apartment in a bet. This was one of the hilarious moments in the series, as the guys were having a blast in their huge new apartment, whereas the girls were living through the horrors of the boys' smelly old apartment.

After giving up on all hopes of making that place better and living a proper life, Monica and Rachel (inspired by a pregnant Phoebe) decided to take back their apartment. In the episode, the girls send off the guys to a Knicks basketball game and switch everything in the apartment to how it was before. While the guys retaliated to this, Monica and Rachel proposed to make out for a minute to get their apartment back, which was enough for the guys to agree.

How did Monica lose her apartment?

It was during the episode of “The One with the Embryos” in season 4 when the girls lost their apartment to Chandler and Joey. It all started with a heated quiz game of who knows who better, with Ross being the inventor of the game. The fact was that Chandler and Joey knew Rachel and Monica more than they knew the guys. The stakes of the game were if Chandler and Joey lost they had to give up their bird. On the contrary, if Rachel and Monica lose, they have to switch apartments with the guys.

When the initial rounds of Ross’s hilarious question and answer session came to an end with both teams having an equal point, he then revealed the lightning round which would deem the winner. While the guys went up first and put up a score of 4 right answers in 30 seconds, Rachel and Monica fell short with one answer as they couldn't figure out Chandler’s job. This helped the guys win and move into Monica’s apartment.

Who had lived in Monica’s apartment in Friends?

Before Monica ever came into the apartment, the room belonged to her grandmother and in a few instances, Ross used to live there when he was young. After Monica moved in there, she lived with Phoebe for a couple of years, before she moved out. After losing the apartment to Chandler and Joey, the latter were seen moving into the apartment for a couple of episodes before the girls switched it back again. By the end of the series, it was Chandler and Monica who moved in together before vacating the apartment in the final episode of Friends.
