But things took a dark turn when he found out the deal was controlled by Pouvoir des Vivants, a kind of militant group from France led by Genet.

He takes shelter at the Abbey of Saint Bernadette, where he meets Laurent, a 12-year-old orphan who is believed to be the new messiah. Laurent's guardian, Sister Isabelle, needs Daryl to take Laurent to The Nest community, a safe place where the boy can grow up to fulfill his destiny.
Isabelle shows Daryl a map to Le Havre, a port city in Normandy, where he might be able to find a way to sail back home. Daryl agrees to accompany Laurent and Isabelle to Le Havre, but they're unaware that the port is controlled by Madame Genet and her group.
