Looking into the events that led Daryl Dixon get to France in The Walking Dead

So, Daryl ended up in France because of some bad people who tricked him onto a boat. In the last season of The Walking Dead, Maggie sent Daryl on a mission to explore the post-apocalyptic world. He went to Maine to get fuel for his motorcycle. There, he met a stranger who offered him a deal: collect zombies in exchange for gas. But things took a dark turn when he found out the deal was controlled by Pouvoir des Vivants, a kind of militant group from France led by Genet.

Daryl is captured by the Pouvoir des Vivants and forced onto a cargo ship bound for France. They want to use him and other prisoners as bait for zombies. But Daryl breaks free and makes it to shore, only to find himself stranded in a foreign land with no way back home.

According to the actor, his floating offshore in France is not an act of free will as the actor Norman Redus states in Jimmy Kimmel Live:

“Somehow I get put there, and I don’t go there on my own free will,”

So Daryl Dixon is a show about Daryl trying to fight his way back to America, but unfortunately, the journey ends with a cliffhanger that leaves you wanting more.

What happens with Daryl in France?

After waking up in another continent, Daryl tries to find a way back home. He meets a nun named Isabelle who needs help with a very risky mission. Daryl agrees to help her if she helps him get back to his homeland.

He takes shelter at the Abbey of Saint Bernadette, where he meets Laurent, a 12-year-old orphan who is believed to be the new messiah. Laurent's guardian, Sister Isabelle, needs Daryl to take Laurent to The Nest community, a safe place where the boy can grow up to fulfill his destiny.

Isabelle shows Daryl a map to Le Havre, a port city in Normandy, where he might be able to find a way to sail back home. Daryl agrees to accompany Laurent and Isabelle to Le Havre, but they're unaware that the port is controlled by Madame Genet and her group.

All six episodes from season 1 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon are available for fans to stream on AMC+, Apple TV+ and Netflix.
