Taylor Haag and Daniel Hastings are proof that love—real and blind—can happen in the most unexpected ways. Without the unique setup of Love Is Blind season 8, their paths might never have crossed. In the real world, dating apps and societal norms would’ve had them swiping right past each other.
Their journey wasn’t without its bumps. From initial doubts about their age gap to a misunderstanding over social media, they faced their fair share of hurdles. But in the end, they were the only couple to say “I do.” Now, as they celebrate their first anniversary, they’re grateful for how far they’ve come—and excited for what’s ahead.
Taylor says that she has never dated a younger man
Taylor, 33, and Daniel, 30, had never considered dating someone outside their typical age range.
“I never dated someone younger than me and Daniel never dated someone older than him. I am, in fact, older than him. So, on dating apps, I don’t know if we ever really would have matched because we had our ranges set at different times or different ages.”
Taylor revealed it on the What’s the Reality podcast.
She admitted that her previous experiences with younger men had reinforced her skepticism because anytime she did try and date someone younger, it always went south.
Daniel, on the other hand, had always filtered his dating preferences to match his own age.
“It was an immediate, like, ‘Ah, I’ll just look for someone my age,’”
He further continued,
“You just wouldn’t even give it a chance, so how cool is this type of experiment where that is not the most important thing?”
How love blossomed in the pods
The Love Is Blind experiment allowed Taylor and Daniel to connect in a way they never had before. Without seeing each other, they formed a bond based on shared values and deep conversations. Their love for Christmas was one of the first things that drew them together.
“He is far mature.”
Taylor gushed, explaining why she felt comfortable moving forward with him.
Daniel’s proposal came just five weeks after their first date in the pods. Despite initial nerves about meeting face-to-face, they quickly realized their connection was even stronger in person. However, their journey wasn’t completely smooth sailing.
The social media misunderstanding
One of the biggest hurdles they faced came early on when Taylor suspected that Daniel had recognized her before the experiment.
She believed he had tried to follow her on social media prior to joining Love Is Blind, raising concerns that he might have entered the show with prior knowledge of her. Daniel, however, denied this, and the couple worked through their doubts.
Taylor admitted that it was a brief snag, but they ultimately moved past it and focused on their future together.
“This is it”—The wedding vows that sealed their love
While other Love Is Blind season 8 couples dealt with breakups and uncertainty, Taylor and Daniel made it all the way to “I do.” Their wedding day was an emotional milestone, the start of their new life together. For Daniel, saying yes was easy—he knew their deep connection was something real and lasting. Daniel said in his vows,
“I fell in love with you because … the way that you process things, the way that you think about things, the way that we instantly became best friends, the way that I can see you being plugged into my life as the mother of my children and as my wife for the rest of my life. Like, this is it. I can see it.”
Life after Love Is Blind
Since getting married, Taylor and Daniel have been enjoying life together beyond the show. They've traveled a lot, with Taylor sometimes joining Daniel on his work trips. Their honeymoon in the Bahamas was unforgettable, and they recently hit another milestone—buying their first home in the Twin Cities.
With their first anniversary around the corner, they’re focused on building a life they love. Looking back, they’re grateful for Love Is Blind for pushing them out of their usual dating habits. Their journey proves that love can grow in the most unexpected ways when given the right chance.
