Superman has been adapted on the big and small screen several times over the years. However, CW's Superman & Lois from 2021 stands out in the long line of Superman adaptations. Unlike previous live-action interpretations of the characters, Superman & Lois have the characters balance their professional lives with their personal lives as they manage parenthood with the challenges of their respective professions.

One of the best characteristics of this last CW DC show is that it adapted lesser-known villains from the Superman lore, with the only exception being Lex Luthor from the fourth and final season.

Morgan Edge, Parasite, Bruno Mannheim, and Bizarro are all Superman antagonists that people who read the comics know about but others don't. Superman & Lois adapted these characters, giving it an edge over other adaptations of the characters.

What happens to Bizarro in Superman & Lois?

Bizarro serves as a red herring at the beginning of the second season of Superman & Lois. However, it is later revealed that the actual antagonist of the season is none other than Ally Allston, a charismatic leader of a cult. Bizarro has a personal vendetta against Ally, and he is here to kill her. However, he is killed, and his body is experimented on by the Season 3 antagonist Bruno Mannheim.

These experiments revive him, and Lex Luthor finds him in the third season finale. Luthor convinces Bizarro to let the former kill the latter. This makes Bizarro stronger and unkillable, transforming him into a giant mutated monster called Doomsday.

Bizarro is not Doomsday in the comics. But Doomsday, a giant mutated version of multiple cloned Kryptonian babies, is straight out of the comics pages. This has endeared Doomsday from Superman & Lois to the fans as this version retains the essence of the character, unlike the previous live-action interpretations.

What does the Doomsday from Superman & Lois do?

Now, a mutated giant monster, Doomsday, upon the direction of Lex Luthor, crashes into the Kent Farm to fight Superman. Later, the same fight spreads to the rest of Smallville. As Steel and Jordan try to intervene, Superman halts them and tries to take the battle away from Smallville to Metropolis.

Clark manages to stab the Doomsday, but it returns to life. Realizing that the opponent is unkillable, Superman takes Doomsday up to space and trades blows with the creature in the closing moments of the Season 3 Finale on the surface of the moon.

How does Superman & Lois Season 4 end?

The fourth season continues the fight between Superman and Doomsday in the space in the middle of asteroids. Doomsday manages to kill The Man of Steel, as instructed, and brings Luthor Superman's heart.

Unlike the previous versions, Luthor in Superman & Lois has a grudge against Lois. Viewers felt a sense of dread for Superman and Lois right when this version of Lex was introduced in the Season 3 Finale. Lex delivers a major blow to Lois twice by having Doomsday first kill Superman, whom he deduces is Clark, and then her father, Sam Lane.

However, Sam had injected himself with the serum that resurrected Bizarro. So, after getting killed, Sam's heart is used to revive Clark, reuniting him and Lois. Then, Lex tries to buy land in Smallville to wreak havoc in the lives of Superman and Lois. When that fails, he steals John Henry Irons' Steel suit with the help of LexCorp scientist Milton Fine and modifies it into battle armor to fight Superman.

He also sets Doomsday on Smallville again to destroy the town, but this time, Superman manages to stop his doppelganger by throwing the mutated giant into the sun. Then, he manages to defeat Lex despite the armor and send him to prison. However, that's not the end. Clark, who had publicly revealed his secret identity earlier, decides to use his influence to build a foundation to solve the world's problems.

After a few decades, he grows old (as he has a human heart) and loses his superpowers. He enjoys retirement with grandchildren and Lois, whom he later loses to cancer. After losing Lois, he has a pet dog, who Clark names Krypto, before passing away from a heart attack a few years later. After forgiving a lonely and suffering Lex Luthor in the afterlife, a young Superman and Lois reunite.

Superman & Lois connects really well with viewers because it adapts a lot of Superman characters in a way that honors the source material. The 2025 James Gunn movie has some serious big shoes to fill.
