Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone is a compelling neo-Western show on Paramount that brings to life the tale of the Dutton family. Yellowstone features Kevin Costner as John Dutton, the patriarch of the Dutton family which owns the largest ranch in the country in Montana.

Among the other characters of Yellowstone, Beth Dutton played by actress Kelly Reilly has amassed a significant following owing to her ruthless and resilient disposition.

It is an understatement to say that Beth Dutton hasn't had it easy on Yellowstone. She has been at the receiving end of numerous blows, both figuratively and literally.

She has been attacked and assaulted numerous times throughout the successive seasons of the show, even surviving a bomb attack at her office that was orchestrated by her brother Jamie Dutton's biological father Garrett Randall, and gave her the scars on her face.

Not all wounds show up on the surface and fittingly enough, Beth Dutton has as many wounds on the inside as on the outside. Here's all that we know.

Beth Dutton's scars from Yellowstone, explored

As one of the most important members of the Dutton family, Beth Dutton was brought to the family ranch in Montana by her father John in order to resist encroaching forces. Over the years she has been battered and bruised many times.

A chief incident occurred in the second season when the Beck brothers sent a group of men to her office at Schwartz & Meyer to intimidate her. This ended in a lot of blood and gore before Rip proposed to her.

Another instance of Beth receiving scars was during the third season finale when Beth received a strange package that exploded upon opening. The explosion blew up her office and killed her assistant. The fourth season premiere saw her surviving the bombing somehow and wandering through the streets of Bozeman, covered in scares all across her face and body.

Beth Dutton is a formidable character that wears the scars of her injuries proudly as a testament to her conviction.

Yellowstone makeup artist opens up about Beth Dutton's scars

Abigail Steele is the makeup artist responsible for creating the iconic scars on Beth Dutton, and according to a report by Collider, she considers them to be fertile territory for her to work on. Speaking about one particular scar right beneath Beth's left eye, she stated:

"It had to be slight enough that even with the nuance of her expression, that it would move with her face like a real scar would, and it was one of my favorite pieces because she wore it through the whole season. This scar tells a story. That the pain she bore still remains on the outside."

Speaking about her character, actress Kelly Reilly herself mentioned that Beth has been through a lot and it shows on her face. She commented:

"There's such dignity in Beth, she doesn't really talk about what happened to her. We saw in Season 2 how much of a survivor she is, and for Season 3 (she) still has the bruises, so they sort of start to fade throughout the show. But it's the emotional scars that take a longer time to hear."

Yellowstone is available for streaming exclusively on Peacock.
