House of the Dragon season 2 came to an end with its eighth and last episode on August 4, 2024, featuring intense drama and Alicent Hightower's unexpected idea to make amends.

While many fans and viewers expressed disappointment over the lack of action, others believe that it was a perfect ending to begin season 3 with an epic fight.

In the final episode of House of the Dragon season 2, we saw Aemond Targaryen (played by Ewan Mitchell) filled with rage as he couldn't continue a long fight with his rivals. However, his next move sent shockwaves among the Blacks.

Aemond Targaryen burned down Sharp Point, a significant location in Westeros, and one of Rhaenyra Targaryen's (played by Emma D’Arcy) allies.

Many might think that it was out of anger and nothing else but burning Sharp Point was a calculated move by Aemond to warn his enemies about his and Vhagar's destructive power. Not only this, but Aemond might also succeed in turning the Lord of Sharp Point on his side, as they might fear Aemond Targaryen's actions.

Even though the finale of House of the Dragon didn't feature any explosive battle between the Greens and the Blacks, it did show significant actions of the Targaryens, including Aemond Targaryen.

The Prince injured his brother King Aegon II (played by Tom Glynn-Carney) and takes authority over the Greens. In the final episode, Aemond and his dragon Vhagar, are seen returning to their castle, but before that, they burned Sharp Point.

His action wasn't solely driven by anger, but a strategic move to let the Targaryens know about his powers and the intensity of the civil war. Per The Independent, showrunner Ryan Condal explained Aemond's successful plan in burning Sharp Point and said:

"It’s also a strategic act because Sharp Point is the seat of House Massey, who serves on Rhaenyra’s council. It’s a punishment to them for siding with the pretender."

Condal explained that Aemond destroyed a crucial place for the Targaryens to torture Rhaenyra's ally. This will force them to reconsider their sides, as Aemond has already proven his participation in the final battle in House of the Dragon.

In George R. R. Martin's book, the Lord of Sharp Point starts believing that the Blacks will have to surrender to the Greens, as they show their power.

Sharp Point lies in Crownlands and is owned by the House Bar Emmon family. Its castle is situated near Dragostone, which is another important location for the Blacks.

Sharp Point was built a century ago, and since then the people have been loyal to the Targaryens. However, now that the Targaryens have split into two, the Lord of Sharp Point has to be on one side, and that is on Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen's side.

House of the Dragon has been renewed for season 3 and will continue the battle among the family members. It will possibly feature the outcome of Aemond Targaryen and Vhagar's actions against the Blacks.

The upcoming season is expected to introduce new characters like Prince Daeron, and the arrival of a wild dragon. Since the two teams didn't face off in the last episode of season 2, and Daemon had a huge vision, House of the Dragon season 3 might also see the deaths of several Targaryens from both teams.
