House of David is a new Christian historical series that premiered on February 27, 2025, on Amazon Prime Video. Created by Jon Erwin, the show brings back the epic story of David and Goliath. It is set in 1000 BC Judea and Israel and revolves around the early life of David, from a shepherd to his epic battle with Goliath and eventually becoming the second king of Israel.

Although the show is set in Israel and Judea, the filming took place primarily in Greece and Alberta, Canada. The production team also scouted places like Jordan, Morocco, Italy, and even Israel but then settled on Greece and Calgary.

It used the rugged terrains and ancient settings of the cities and neighborhoods to depict the ancient timeline.

Let’s take a look at the various locations where the House of David was filmed.

Filming locations of House of David

1) Kapa Studios, Markopuolo Massogaias, Greece

Kapa Studios in Athens, Greece, was a significant location for the production of House of David. With its several sound stages and huge backlot, it provided an ideal location to depict the ancient setting of the show.

Additionally, the modern facilities such as the lighting, high voltage power network, and various other highly advanced equipments came in handy for executing such a big project.

2) Saronikos, Greece

Known for its rich history and civilisations, Saroniko in Attica was also one of the primary locations. Its rocky terrains and beautiful waterfront provided an authentic look at the ancient history, which helped in the production.

3) Fyli, Greece

Apart from Saronikos, Fyli also provided a beautiful location. Due to being at the foothills of the mountains of Parnitha, the forest areas of Fyli helped in depicting the scenes of exile in the show.

4) Peloponnese region

The Peloponnese region was used because of its ancient ruins and stunning natural beauty. Two main locations used from the region were the ancient Messene, which is known for the ruins of a large classical city, and Nafplio’s old town that has preserved the old and traditional style, providing a great location for a historical drama.

Other than these two locations, Xylocastro was also used as it gave a unique contrast from the early locations by providing a science beauty of the seaside.

5) Lavreotiki, Greece

Lavreotiki is a mining and archeological city of Greec. Many ancient archeological sites like temples and ruins of the ancient Greece have been found here. Therefore, it was an obvious choice for a show that brought back one of the epic historical tales.

6) Epirus, Greece

Two of the most beautiful cities in Epirus- Zagori and Konitsa- were also used for filming House of David.

Zagori is a UNESCO world heritage site and is famous for its rugged Pindus mountains. The architecture, made of slate rock, wood, and stone, provides an ancient backdrop to the show.

Konitsa is famous for its natural beauty and villages. The ancient stone houses and peaceful village setting provide an ideal depiction of civilization.

7) Alberta, Canada

Calgary was the primary location in Alberta, Canada for the filming of House of David.

The popular Hollywood filming site, the CL ranch, was used for production. The location provides a natural view of the mountains and a period neighborhood setting.

Furthermore, they also used the Marda Loop community and Inglewood neighborhood for filming.
