What happened in the previous episode of High Potential?
High Potential episode 11, The Sauna at the End of the Stairs, opened with George Donovan, an elderly man, who made a surprising confession about murdering his son-in-law, Barry, ten years earlier, by pushing him down the basement stairs.
His confession led Selena to reopen the case, and she asked Morgan to reevaluate the evidence. Morgan studied the case files and found something fishy. She believed Barry had been electrocuted in the shower with an old hair dryer.
As the faulty outlet caught fire, the killer panicked and dropped Barry’s body down the laundry chute. Later, the killer moved Barry to a sauna to stage the accident. Selena, Morgan, and Karadec visited the Donovan mansion, where they found burnt electrical outlets, confirming Morgan’s suspicion.
Meanwhile, Nedda Donovan, George’s former daughter-in-law, arrived at the police station with new information. She revealed that Barry had been abusing his wife, Heather, and the family had discovered bruises on her arms the night he died.
After putting the pieces together, Morgan figured out the real killer was Cody, Barry’s teenage son. Cody was upset with his father due to his abuse, and hence, decided to kill him. Cody later confessed, and since he was only 15 at the time, he was tried as a minor.
