The finale episode begins with a kidnapper sending emails to the LAPD featuring a man held captive, "Spencer Wallace wouldn't play with me, will you?" In the process of solving the case, the teammates Morgan, Daphne, Karadec, and Oz start playing the games filled with puzzles. They visit Spencer's apartment, where they decipher coordinates to locate Spencer.
The viewers come to know that Oz has been a part of the grief group that the kidnapper is targeting as he shares it with Daphne. The kidnapper had nearly killed all the members of the group, making Oz the latest subject.
The kidnapper rigs Oz's car's airbags while he is on his way to the gala, which leads to the car malfunctioning, making him immovable. The kidnapper traps Oz in a pool in the hope that he will die by drowning. However, he gets saved by his teammates.
How does Oz survive in the High Potential Season 1 finale?
When Oz does not turn up at the Gala party, Daphne worries about him. Daphne finds Oz's car in the parking lot, where she finds an hourglass and a note stating 'Marco'.
The team then hurries to the station, where they analyze the clues. Morgan, with her quick investigative skills, finds out the location where Oz might have been kept - a home in Encino. The team rushes to the spot to find Oz chained up to the bottom of the swimming pool. When Oz is pulled out of the water by Karadec, he is unconscious, but with the help of Daphne, he regains his senses.
Everything that happened in the High Potential Season 1 finale
Apart from Oz's dramatic kidnap, near-death experience, and heroic rescue by the LAPD, some key moments were spilled in the season finale. Morgan finally came to know the truth about her long-lost husband, Roman. Gio Conforth, a recurring character in the series, wanted his nephew to get out of the bars in exchange for Roman's whereabouts, revealed that Lila Flynn.
Later, it was shown that Lila Flynn was an undercover FBI agent who died 15 years ago and was working on the case of Roman's disappearance. It is also revealed to the viewers by Karadec's phone call to Morgan that Roman is alive and is an undercover FBI agent.
Morgan's father made Morgan think in her childhood that her classmates were inferior to her in terms of intelligence. This made her an outcast in her class and also ruined her relationship with her father.
The team also is unable to trace the serial kidnapper. They initially thought it was David, but he was locked in a rehab facility. The main culprit appears in the parking lot of the grocery store where Morgan and her children are shopping. When Morgan returned home, she realized she saw a pack of cards, stating 'We shall play again. Me and You.'
This scene lays the base plotline for the upcoming seasons of High Potential. Meanwhile, we might also see a budding romance between Morgan and Karadec. However, things might not be as smooth as we can see Roman's return after 15 years.
