Kolbi Jordan, 26, a Tulsa, Oklahoma native, is among the participants featured on American Idol Season 23. Kolbi was featured at a Tennessee Titans game during November 2024, where she was invited to perform. American Idol judges, including Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan, were also present at the time.

Kolbi received a platinum ticket for her performance. It meant she didn't have to go to the show's first week, i.e., Hollywood week. She advanced to the next phase of American Idol Season 23 with a platinum ticket. With such an impressive audition and upon receiving the season's first-ever platinum ticket, Kolbi Jordan surely made a name for herself. And it was just the beginning!

With such impressive performances from Kolbi Jordan, there are many reasons why I believe she has what it takes to win the competition.

American Idol Season 23: Kolbi Jordan - a skilled singer with the potential to win the competition

During Kolbi Jordan's Tulsa World interview dated March 9, 2025, she revealed her musical background and how she used to go to church and sing. She mentioned going to church every Sunday with her family. She grew up seeing her mother singing while her father played various instruments.

Kolbi also recalled her grandmother and how she used to sing, saying she has a "musical" family.

"I was raised in the church, so that’s where my first solo came from. I sang in the church at a very young age, but even before I started singing in the church, there were moments of me singing little silly songs with my family in the house. We would make up little silly, stupid songs. And I think one day I was singing it, and my family was like, Oh, wait a minute. She can sing. I think she may have a voice," she added.

Further, Kolbi said she performed solo and joined the choir at her school. Soon, she got herself performing in local musicals in her town. Fans following Kolbi from her American Idol Season 23 journey might already know how big of an impact Patti LaBelle has had on her.

Recalling the incident where it all began, Kolbi said she was five or six years old when she heard someone singing. She ran towards the voice because she didn't know who it was. After seeing it on TV, she learned it was Patti LaBelle with Living It Up with Patti LaBelle. She then went on YouTube and watched every video she could find on Patti LaBelle.

While advancing from Top 14 in the latest episode of American Idol Season 23, Kolbi sang Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell's You're All I Need to Get By. With her performance, she advanced to the Top 12 with exciting remarks from the judges.

"I know I'm going to be mad at America no matter what happens tonight because we have so much talent on this show," said Carrie Underwood.

Lionel said her performance was "amazing" and told everyone to vote. Luke talked about Kolbi's "aura" and said it was "sensory overload."

Starting from the first platinum ticket of the season and such appreciation from the judges, Kolbi Jordan truly has all it takes to win the competition.
