The Korean fantasy thriller Hellbound was renewed for its second season in 2022. Directed by Yeon Sang-ho of Train to Busan fame, Hellbound Season 2 premiered on October 25, 2024.
Season 1, which premiered in November 2021, was an instant hit among the audience. It broke the record of Squid Game and became the most-watched show.

Hellbound is based on a webtoon of the same name. It follows an alternate world where monstrous creatures come out of nowhere to tell people the time and date of their death before three giant monsters appear from another dimension to incinerate that person.
In 2021, it was announced that season 2 of Hellbound will follow only after a sequel of the source webtoon is released. At that time, creator Yeon Sang-ho had told Variety,
“My partner Choi Kyu-Seok and I have decided that the story afterwards will be told first through the webtoon.”
However, Netflix announced the renewal news in 2022 when no sequel of the webtoon version had been released. The announcement for season 2 was made at Netflix's global fan event, TUDUM, through a short video that said,
"Hellbound will return for season 2".

Season 2 of Hellbound premiered on Netflix on October 25, 2024. Like season 1, the second season also has six episodes, all dropped together, giving the viewers a chance to binge.
Season 2 picks up right where season 1 ended with hundreds of people resurrected from hell without any explanation.
Hellbound Season 2 Plot
Hellbound Season 2 follows the leader of The New Truth cult, Jung Jinsu, who has returned from hell after being trapped there for several years.
After returning, Jung Jinsu realizes that society is now ruled by the dicta of the New Truth and its extreme section, the Arrowhead.
However, when Jinsu understands that he is not the only one resurrected from hell, he starts questioning its meaning for him and others. He wonders if the resurrection is damnation, as New Truth claims, or if it is a path to salvation.
Who is in the cast of HellBound Season 2?
Season 2 of Hellbound will see Kim Hyun-joo reprising her role as Min Hye-jin, a lawyer-turned-badass who proved herself to be a true force of nature in the first season.
Yang Ik-june, as police detective Jin Kyung-hoon, will also be coming back in season 2, as confirmed by Netflix.
