Hell's Kitchen 23 Episode 3, Shucking Hell, aired October 10, 2024 on FOX. The episode featured 18 chefs split into Blue and Red teams of nine each. Contestants faced a seafood challenge and dinner service, with unexpected events altering the competition.

Two Blue Team members left due to injuries, leaving them short-staffed. The Red Team won both the challenge and dinner service.

During elimination, Gordon Ramsay sent Corbin home from the Blue Team for poor performance at the fish station. Egypt remained despite team complaints about his attitude. The Episode ended with the Blue Team being reduced to six chefs, creating an imbalance between the Red Team's nine.

Seafood showdown leads to Corbin's exit from Hell's Kitchen

In Hell's Kitchen 23 Episode 3, the dinner service proved challenging for both teams, with the Red Team ultimately outperforming their Blue counterparts. The Blue Team encountered numerous difficulties throughout the evening. Egypt's performance at the fish station was problematic, resulting in overcooked salmon dishes.

Brandon also struggled, sending up raw steak and lamb to the pass. These errors drew sharp criticism from Hell's Kitchen judge Gordon Ramsay and created tension within the Blue team's Kitchen.

In contrast, the Red Team maintained a more consistent performance. Gordon Ramsay specifically praised Lulu from the Red Team, stating, "She can cook, that girl."

As a result of their inferior performance, the Blue Team was tasked with nominating two chefs for elimination. After deliberation, they put forward Egypt and Corbin. The team cited Egypt's domineering attitude in the kitchen as the reason for his nomination.

Corbin was selected due to his poor management of the fish station during service.

In the elimination round, Gordon Ramsay decided to send Corbin home. He justified this choice with a pointed comment about Corbin's abilities, saying he was "short on talent" despite his tall stature. This elimination reduced the Blue Team's numbers, leaving them at a significant disadvantage for future challenges.

Notably, Egypt remained in the competition despite his teammates' complaints about his behavior and the issues with his cooking during service.

Unexpected Blue team departures

The Blue Team faced unexpected setbacks early in Hell's Kitchen 23 Episode 3 when two of its members were forced to leave the competition due to injuries. The first incident occurred with Shant, who experienced severe back pain after participating in the morning's seafood delivery unloading and was removed by the medical team.

Later, Uri also complained of back pain and requested a break from the team's punishment task of cleaning mussels. While Uri initially returned to help with dinner preparations, his condition did not improve. Ultimately he withdrew before dinner service began in Hell's Kitchen 23 Episode 3.

Seafood Tower challenge

The Hell's Kitchen 23 Episode 3 began with chefs receiving a fresh seafood delivery for their challenge: creating hot seafood appetizer towers in 30 minutes. The challenge featured head-to-head battles between Red and Blue team members.

Key matchups included:

  • Squid: Whit (Red) beat Uri (Blue) due to better cooking technique
  • Crab: Kyle (Blue) won over Magali (Red) with a delicious tempura-style dish
  • Lobster: Brittany (Red) triumphed over Shant (Blue) despite oversalting
  • Mussels and Prawns: Both rounds ended in ties
  • Clams: Joe (Blue) won against Lulu (Red) with a superior dish
  • Scallops: Ann Marie (Red) beat Corbin (Blue) who overcooked his dish
  • Oysters: Hannah (Red) tied with Egypt (Blue) after Brandon's dish was disqualified

The Red Team won 6-5 overall. Their reward was kayaking on the Mystic River, while the Blue Team cleaned 100 pounds of mussels as punishment.

The next episode, scheduled to air on October 17, 2024, will likely explore how these changes impact the competition moving forward.
