Netflix announced that all eight episodes of Heartstopper Season 3 will drop on Thursday, Oct. 3. Based on the graphic novel series by Alice Oseman, Heartstopper follows Charlie Spring, a gay teenager, and Nick Nelson, a rugby player. Charlie and Nick become friends, and the latter soon learns he is bisexual.

Season 2, released in August 2023, had a tragic ending. The new season was announced via a date announcement clip. The clip features a portion of Billie Eilish's song "Birds of a Feather" from her forthcoming album Hit Me Hard and Soft.

By the end of Heartstopper Season 2 it was pretty evident the show followed the original comics but had minor adjustments to suit the screen.

Oseman told Tudum:

“In the comics, there are a couple of moments where Charlie thinks he’s going to say ‘I love you’ and then decides not to, but the actual cliff-hanger at the end of Season 2 is not something that is in the comics,”

What could the plot of Heartstopper Season 3 be?

Season 3's premiere, "Love," launches with Charlie wanting to tell Nick that he loves him, while Nick has something equally important he wants to share with Charlie. They learn more about each other and start thinking about university. As time goes by, they lean on loved ones when things don't exactly go their way:

Oseman said:

“I cannot wait for the third season of Heartstopper to be released… Season 2 ended with Nick beginning to understand the extent of Charlie’s mental-health issues, and it’s this that will drive the story through Season 3.

He added,

“While Heartstopper will always celebrate the joyful and point towards hope, I’m really excited that we are allowing the tone of the show to mature alongside our beloved characters growing up,” “Mental health, sex, University ambitions and more: Nick, Charlie and the Heartstopper teens are getting older, learning more about themselves and each other, and experiencing new desires, new fears and new joys as they approach adulthood.”

In August 2024, Netflix announced the titles for some of Season 3's Heartstopper episodes: Episode 2 is going to be titled "Home," while Episode 3 is called "Talk," followed by Episode 4, "Journey." "Winter" is the title of the fifth episode, which features a picture of Tori that seems to be based on Oseman's This Winter novella. Episode 6 is named "Body," while the last two episodes are titled "Together" and "Apart."
