Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary recently joined Fox News reporter to chime in about the DOGE digging deep into government spending. While citing that people are raging that Elon Musk is moving too fast to cut down federal government spending, Mr. Wonderful is rather concerned that the case is the opposite.
During an interview with Fox News on February 25, Kevin O'Leary supported the ongoing initiative of Elon Musk's DOGE, which has been looking into slashing the workforce to keep government spending in check and hold the federal workforce accountable. Kevin O'Leary, time and again, has talked about giving importance to policy over politics.
Kevin believes that if the changes in government metrics are causing angst in the people, it is normal. He cited his example during the interview and mentioned how working toward the success of any organization or company requires "cutting deeper". Adding to the same, he further remarked:
"You have to cut way past the comfort zone beacuse you only want to do it once. It is really difficult to do little cuts over and over again. It's hard to the organization. It's not motivating to people. So, you cut deep, really deep, and then you hire back. I have done this countless time, it's not easy. But I am little concerned, he is not cutting enough."
Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary supports the recent DOGE initiative asking federal employees to summarize their work.
Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary once again joined the discussion concerning the current US government's working approach. The debate started after DOGE initiated a new mandate, where the federal employees got an email asking them to summarize their week's work in 5 bullet points.
The initiative received a backlash from other departments, with heads asking their employees not to respond to the emails. The FBI Director, Kash Patel, asked his employees to “pause any responses”, as the FBI will follow its mandate to review the work. However, the Shark Tank investor and Canadian business mogul supported the idea, citing that in the private sector, doing so is a common practice.
During an interview with Fox News on February 25, Kevin O'Leary mentioned that people do not like disruption as this sort of initiative is happening for the first time.
He also remarked that for him, asking employees where they are and what they are doing is important. He said,
"There's nothing wrong with asking, what are you doing? I do that all day to many, many people, and I expect a response. And and the CEOs I work with expect a response. This is all very good, and I understand the angst out there."
Shark Tank Season 16 airs on ABC Network.
