But do you remember Nell Jones, the impeccable and fun tech analyst and later the Operations Manager from NCIS: Los Angeles?

Played by Renee Felice Smith, Nell Jones was first introduced in Season 2, Episode 4, 'Special Delivery' as a recurring character, but she gradually became a part of the main cast. Her transformation from a socially awkward analyst to a confident field agent was a treat to watch.

In a 2012 interview with Lena Lamoray, Renee Felice Smith shared some hilarious tidbits about her co-star LL Cool J, who played senior Special Agent Sam Hanna. When the host asked Smith about whether LL Cool J played pranks on them on the NCIS: Los Angeles set or not, she replied,

"It's not so much that he's a prankster but he does break up in the scene. He's the kind of guy that loses it to laughter or something he finds funny and then we all set off track and have to reel it back in. He's definitely the big personality in the room."

The cast of NCIS: Los Angeles did play a hilarious prank on the rapper and actor LL Cool J, which freaked him out initially. In a Reddit thread r/IAmA, Barret Foa, who played Eric Beale in NCIS: Los Angeles, shared the instance of how the cast and the crew pranked LL Cool J with a hoax protein powder advertisement in the Men's Fitness magazine. Foa wrote,

"We had a copy of Men's Fitness when COD was on the cover and we pasted a fake ad on the back cover (our prop guys made it) with LL promoting some kind of Protein Powder. He FREAKED OUT! it was hilarious. LL was a good sport."

In a 2015 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, when LL Cool J was asked about the on-set pranks, he said,

"The pranks don't stop. They prank me out-it's crazy. All kinds, all kinds. Fake magazine covers- all kinds."

Surprisingly, LL Cool J has reprised his role as Agent Sam Hanna in NCIS Season 22. Previously, after NCIS: Los Angeles ended in 2023, he appeared in a recurring guest role in NCIS: Hawai'i.
