Anticipations are rising regarding the new Harry Potter series in development.. While the show is not expected to premiere before 2026, fans are nonetheless eager to see their favorite trio of Harry, Ron, and Hermione return on screen.
Given the fact that the films had a run-time of only around 2.5 hours or so, a lot of events from the books had to be cut. However, that will not be the case with the HBO series as there will be ample time and multiple episodes, allowing the makers to focus on every single detail, including the ones that the films could not accommodate.
While fans are ready for a deeper plunge into the world of Harry Potter, one particular battle tops the list of the events that viewers would like to see in greater detail. The Battle of Hogwarts did not receive a justified portrayal in the films, and the show offers a great chance to give the battle the attention it deserves.
The Battle of Hogwarts deserves to be shown in greater detail in the Harry Potter show
The Battle of Hogwarts, which took place in the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 film, was hugely skimmed through because of the film's limited duration. In terms of importance, this was a very important battle because it was this fight that finally marked the downfall of the main villain, Voldemort.
Moreover, the battle also marked various defining arcs of certain characters, which the film could not focus on. For instance, Percy emerged as a hero in this battle, but the movie could not do justice to his character.
Ron also showed significant growth during the battle, which ultimately led to his kiss with Hermione.
Ron suggested that Harry should inform the House Elves of the imminent danger so that they can keep themselves safe. This greatly impressed Hermione as it showed his selfless side. This important character development was glossed over in the films but can be shown in minute detail in the show.
Moreover, given the significance that the battle had, its emotional depth also happens to be something that should be focused on in greater detail. Like the final battle with the White Walkers in Game of Thrones had left fans disappointed, so did the Battle of Hogwarts in the films. The scenes felt rushed because of the extreme time crunch.
However, since time will not be an issue in the show, it can be expected that the makers will give The Battle of Hogwarts the importance and credit it should be given, which will also give the fans a chance to witness the magic of wizardry all over again.
