Love Island Season 11 premiered on June 3, 2024, on ITV2, and Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan garnered the maximum votes to win the season. Mimmi and Josh had many ups and downs in their relationship but once they knew they wanted to be with each other, they sailed through it. The show invites a bunch of singles to a beautiful island, aloof from the world's noise. The singles are then introduced to each other to form couples and survive until the end to win.

In Love Island, the most important rule is to not be single, as it leads to elimination. The Islanders are presented with tasks and challenges to test their bond and stir the pot. The show brings in twists and turns to maintain the spontaneity and thrill of the reality series. There is an option to recouple if any Islander is not satisfied with the bond. Mimii and Josh started bonding after Josh joined the cast as a bombshell.

Mimii was initially coupled with Ayo, who dumped her during Casa Amore's recoupling, leaving her disappointed. But fortunately, Mimii had better things to come, and she coupled with Josh. Both remained loyal to each other till the end to finally win the show by getting the maximum number of public votes. Even the host, Maya Jama was rooting for them.

However, after two months of winning the show, in September, Mimii announced their separation via her Instagram story.

Why Mimii and Josh, the Love Island Season 11 winners called it 'quits'?

Love Island wrapped up its season 11 on July 29 and announced the winners, Mimii and Josh, the couple loved by fellow Islanders, the host, and the public. For them, it was a dream come true, as they always focused on their bond more than winning. The couple bonded just a few days before the finale, and therefore, as soon as they left the Island, rumors started going around that the couple would not last.

However, the couple stood strong and also made public appearances together, quashing all the air around their breakup. After winning the show, both of them opened up about their journey in an exclusive interview with OK! The couple mentioned that they were always authentic and tried to understand each other beyond the surface level.

Mimii said in the interview:

"We spoke about things that weren’t just surface-level talks, we talked deeply and it would just flow every single time and it was an easy conversation for us to get into. We had similar interests, we like the same music and we’re passionate about the same things. We were just very compatible and people could see that."

They also spoke about creating history and being the first black couple to win Love Island season 11. Mimii said during the interview:

"I keep saying it’s so surreal because I am just so thrilled to be part of history. We didn’t realise how much of the point that we’re making."

However, in September, Mimii confirmed that the couple was no longer together. They were not spotted together for quite a long time, and it created intrigue among the fans. This is what she posted on Instagram:

"Hi everyone, I know that a lot of you have been wondering about Josh and me and why we haven't been making appearances. The truth is we have been trying to figure it out since leaving the villa, but unfortunately, things aren't going to work out between us right now."

Josh did not comment on the story but it was clear to the fans that they had separated, adding to the count of breakups after the end of the show.

Love Island Season 11 is available on ITV2 to watch.
