While MobLand essentially revolves around the battle between the Harrigans and the Stevensons, as the former family’s grandson kills the latter’s son, it is also the story of the Harrigans' long-time fixer Harry, played by Tom Hardy.
Harry is one of the key figures in the drama, and the maintenance of peace between the Harrigans and the Stevensons depends on him. He does everything in his power to shield Richie Stevenson from finding out that Eddie Harrigan killed Tommy.
His plan of setting up the bar owner as Tommy’s murderer seemed to have worked initially. The bar owner had only chopped up his body after Eddie had killed him. However, Harry is in deeper trouble with the police after they found Archie's body, since its location was only privy to Harry and Conrad Harrigan.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Hardy talked about the same, mentioning,
“I don’t know. We have to figure out how they found Archie’s body because that wasn’t easy to find. Someone would have to know where that was and that would have to have come from within our own family.”
While this certainly hints at one of the Harrigans' backstabbing the family, it also puts the suspicion on Harry because of his extensive knowledge about the whereabouts and business of the Harrigans.
Maeve is already instigating Conrad against Harry in MobLand
After the news of Archie’s body being discovered reaches Conrad, he visibly grows tense because, after a discussion with Maeve, he was convinced that Archie was the mole. But after Archie's body is discovered, his suspicions about the traitor being within the family start to rise. When Conrad tells this to Maeve, she is too obvious to hint at Harry, which agitates Conrad.
However, he does seem to have been affected by Maeve’s words as he pays Harry’s wife, Jan, a visit and threatens her not to talk about Harry or his work to anyone. Interestingly, when Conrad visits Jan, Alice, a new friend of hers whom she met in group therapy, is also present but is politely asked to leave by Jan.
It is later revealed that Alice is with the law enforcement, and is trying to gather information about the Harrigans through Jan. Jan is aware of all the details of Harry’s work; any information she provides to Alice might end up being helpful for them to find dirt on the Harrigans.
When Harry learns about Conrad’s visit to Jan, he senses something is wrong and goes almost berserk. Given the kind of reputation that Conrad has, it is an understandable reaction on his part. However, no matter what had transpired between Jan and Alice, the former did not know where Archie’s body was buried, and therefore, that information could not have reached the police from her.
With the noose around his throat getting tighter by the minute, with Richie Stevenson watching over his shoulder and new seeds of doubts about his loyalty planted in Conrard’s mind, it now remains to be seen if things come toppling down for Harry or if he is able to fix everything, which is exactly what he does for living.
MobLand can be streamed on Paramount+ with new episodes dropping weekly on every Sunday.
