Ever since the news broke out about the Harry Potter television series on HBO, Potterheads have been in a tizzy, especially about the casting of their favorite characters. The new series will remain faithful to J.K. Rowling's original books and will be covered over ten years to allow detailed storytelling.
As casting for the main trio of Harry, Hermione, and Ron is well underway, actor Hero Fiennes Tiffin, who played young Tom Riddle in the original film series, has recently made some comments about reprising his role in the franchise.
US Weekly caught up with the actor during the premiere of Picture This in New York City, and when asked about the reboot TV series, Fiennes-Tiffin not only expressed his desire to play a role but also encouraged Warner Bros. to reach out with a “call me” sign.
The First Love star believes that if he returns for the Harry Potter TV series, it would have to be as Tom Riddle. Hero Fiennes Tiffin said:
"I would 100 percent be open to coming back as any character in the HBO Harry Potter series... I don't think I could be anyone else. I’m not just Team Tom Riddle, I’m Team Slytherin as well."
He continued:
"So if it is anyone else, I think it’s gotta be Team Slytherin. I’ve picked my name out of the hat, and I’m Slytherin ‘till I die.'"

Hero Fiennes Tiffin is open to the Harry Potter TV series on HBO
Once more, J.K. Rowling’s seven-book saga is set to hit our screens as the new Harry Potter TV series, and promises to include characters who had less or no appearance in the acclaimed film series.
The makers will bring a brand new cast to portray the iconic characters, and the series will be set in a version of Great Britain where a hidden world of magic exists alongside the non-magical one.
Since the reboot will include every key character, Hero Fiennes Tiffin expressed his desire to be a part of this project and also shared fond memories of working with the late Michael Gambon (Albus Dumbledore). The Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince star said:
"I was so lucky to work with him, and he’s just such a cool guy."
The actor continued:
"I’m like 9 or 10 at the time and we’d just be making jokes all the time. Also, he has massive hands. I don’t know if anyone had noticed, but his hands are just huge. So I think as a kid, it’s stupid things like that [that you remember]."
Michael Gambon's Dumbledore became his most iconic role, and as explained by Fiennes-Tiffin, the late actor made the set environment enjoyable. The role was first portrayed by Richard Harris, but after his death, Dumbledore was helmed by Michael Gambon, who died in 2023.
As for the casting of the character in the HBO TV series, actor John Lithgow will portray the calm, serious, and sometimes quirky Hogwarts Headmaster. The actor is both excited and a bit afraid to play the iconic character, as he said that,
"It's going to define me for the last chapter of my life."
Interestingly, the upcoming Harry Potter TV series will be filmed at the same location where the original eight Harry Potter films were made. Since production is expected to begin this year, there's no confirmed release date as of now.
