Harley Quinn Season 5 Episode 8 recap: Harley suffers a huge loss

The previous Harley Quinn episode revealed the real villain of this season, and it's not Brainiac. It also introduced us to Frankette, a new baby plant born from Frank's remains and Poison Ivy's DNA. However, it ended with Lena taking over Brianiac's ship and abducting Frankette. Towards the end of the latest, episode, Harley has a brilliant idea to break Lex Luthor out of the prison and ally with him to stop Lena.

Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn are at odds for the major part of the eighth episode, titled Family Feud. Moreover, Harley's parents are back in her life in this episode, and tragedy strikes.

Here are some of the major plot points in Harley Quinn Season 5 Episode 8, Family Feud:

Ivy and Harley's relationship is on thin ice

We see the death of Frank the Plant in the sixth episode of Harley Quinn Episode 6, titled Bottle My Heart. Episode 7, Frankette, features his funeral, but also features a sort kind of resurrection similar to Groot from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. We meet Frankette the Plant, who is born from Ivy's DNA and Frank's remains. However, that doesn't deter Ivy from extracting vengeance from Brianiac.

He reveals the truth to Ivy that Lena is the one who murdered Frank. However, Harley asks for Lena's help when Bane, Frankette, Ivy, Goldilocks, and one of the shark babies are under attack from Brianiac's robots. Lena stops the robots but kidnaps Frankette. Harley herself admits to taking Lena's help in the closing moments of the previous episode, right before Frankette is abducted.

Ivy is angry on Harley for taking Lena's help, though they reconcile before the end of the Harley Quinn episode.

Harley's parents are back

Episode 8's sub-lot involves Harley's parents, especially her father. Nick Quinzel knocks Harley unconscious, kidnaps her, and attempts to harvest her organs. Shockingly, it is revealed that he has kidnapped Harley because Lena had paid him to do so. This is a new low for Nick, who has previously been established as a vile father and man.

He dies at the end of the episode, but this event inspires Harley to come up with an idea to defeat Lena.

Harley's brilliant idea to defeat Lena and retrieve Frankette

Harley realizes that family might be Lena's Achilles heel, much like hers. Therefore, Harley breaks Lex Luthor, who was incarcerated in Blackgate, out of prison. Ivy and Harley then ally themselves with Lex Luthor to bring Lena down and free Metropolis. However...

The stakes are higher as Lena pulls off a Brainiac

As Harley, Ivy, and Sharon Quinzel break Lex out of Blackgate Prison, Lena uses Brainiac's skull ship to shrink Metropolis and miniaturize the shrunk city inside the ship. The stakes are clearly high now in the last two episodes of Season 5, scheduled to stream on March 13 and March 20, 2025, respectively.

What is this season of Harley Quinn about?

This season humorously began with a montage of all the dangers Gothamites face on a day-to-day basis. Later, Ivy and Harley decide to move to Metropolis, which they consider safer. The city, however, is going to fall prey to Brainiac's machinations, ensuring Harley and Ivy have to step up again to thwart this sinister plan.
