Melissa Moore, a married woman played by Tony-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford, and her family lead a normal life after cutting all ties with her father, played by Dennis Quaid, known as the Happy Face killer, an incarcerated serial killer from the early 90s. He was famous by this name as he drew happy faces on the letters he would write to his prosecutors and the media.

Moore's life is thrown for a loop when she receives a call from her dad, whose identity she has kept a secret for most of her life at her workplace.

The first two episodes, titled "The Confession" and "Killing Shame," set the show and its protagonist on a journey that will upend her life as she is faced with new information about her father's victims.

Ignoring multiple warnings from her husband as well as her mother, Melissa decides to figure out and make public the identity of the victim that the authorities are unaware of as an attempt to bring peace to a family that is still wondering about their missing daughter.

As Melissa explores the harrowing reality behind her manipulative and narcissistic father's claims in the upcoming episodes of the Paramount+ exclusive show Happy Face, she's unknowingly standing in the middle of a brewing storm that might just bring her entire world crumbling around her.
