HBO's American comedy-drama show Hacks swept two big wins at the 82nd Golden Globes after beating many major comedy series in its category and proving that it is here to rule the comedy world.

Hacks Season 3 premiered in May 2024 and was simultaneously renewed for a Season 4. While there is no official release date for the same, it can be expected that the show will return in May-June 2025.

After the shocking Season 3 finale, where Ava practically blackmailed her boss, Deborah, into giving her the head writer position on her new late show, things are about to get messy for the duo in the following season.

Here's what Hacks creators have to say about Season 4.

Hacks takes home two awards at the 82nd Golden Globes

The 82nd Golden Globes, held on January 5, 2025, were in favor of the show as it repeated history and took home two awards that night. The show was awarded the Best TV Series Comedy/musical and the Best Actress in a TV Comedy/musical for Jean Smart.

This is the fourth Golden Globe win for the show, as it was also previously awarded the Best Series and Best Actress for Smart.

This is how writer/creator Paul W. Downs accepted the award for his series:

“We are so lucky to get to tell this story. Since language was created we’ve all been telling stories and we’re honored to be in this room with all these storytellers,”

This was not only a monumental win for the show, but it also beat some popular and highest-grossing shows on all platforms, including The Bear, Only Murders in the Building, Abbott Elementary, The Gentleman, and Nobody Wants This.

Latest updates on Hacks Season 4 after the Golden Globe win

Following this monumental win for the series, there was no doubt that there would not be questions about Hacks Season 4. The show was renewed for a fourth season in May 2024, following the premiere of Season 3.

After the gripping finale, which left Ava and Deborah at odds with each other, Season 4 will dive into the new tensions between the two characters while they try to lift a late-night show off the grounds.

Co-creator Jen Statsky discussed backstage at the Globes what to expect from Season 4, and what would Ava and Deborah's relationship be like ahead,

“Definitely in Season 4 you see them butting heads in ways they never have while also trying to get a show off the ground, which is very, very complicated,”

While talking about ageism in Hollywood, Downs also discussed how he feels happy that people are interested in seeing stories about characters in the later years of their lives, Hacks also being one of them,

“It’s so exciting to see people who have paid their dues get their flowers. I do think it’s actually a good time for roles and for characters that aren’t just teens. It’s not just like young people who are friends in their 30s. … I hope that networks take risks on stories that are original and characters, whether it’s about their age or about something else, that isn’t the typical thing we see.”

While we agree with Downs' statement, the show's consecutive wins have proved that age is just a number, and people enjoy watching stories with authentic characters like Deborah.
