GK Barry talks about her cameo in Harlan Coben's Missing You: Reports

Ever since Missing You dropped on Netflix on January 1, 2025, fans have been hooked to the show like any other Harlan Coben adaptation. While the storyline is tight and the cast is star-studded with the likes of Rosalind Eleazar and Richard Armitage, fans have recognized GK Barry’s cameo in the very first episode. While there was initial confusion among a few viewers regarding if the blonde woman in the first episode was indeed GK Barry, the fact has now been confirmed.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan, GK Barry revealed she was approached by the team of Missing You and decided to go ahead with the offer. She said,

“They approached my manager and said, 'We're doing this new Netflix show, and we'd love Grace to be a little part in it.' And I thought, 'Well, I'm not going to say no.'”

While this is Barry’s first stint with acting, it is not her first time in front of the camera. She appeared on television for the first time in the show I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and hosts a podcast titled Saving Grace.

A TikTok star, Barry joined Loose Women as a regular panelist in 2024, to become the youngest memeber of the panel in the show’s 25 years’ history. Let us now explore Barry’s role in Missing You and how she landed it.

How did GK Barry land a cameo in Missing You?

In an interview with Cosmopolitan UK, Barry mentioned that she said yes to the Missing You role because,

"I just wanted to do it because I thought it was kind of iconic. I want to build the CV up so my parents cannot moan about anything! I would do [more acting], like The Office vibes, or something that doesn't involve tense acting. I couldn't do Game of Thrones."

She also mentioned,

“So we got on a call, and they were explaining who my character was, and it made me laugh so much because it’s very on brand.”

After her coming aboard the project, which happened quite smoothly, Barry’s cameo took one day to shoot in September 2024.

What role does GK Barry play in Missing You?

GK Barry plays Vanessa, a “foot cam girl” in her own words, and appears in the first episode of Missing You. She appears in a montage, and is seen under a blanket rolling her blonde hair, even as a male voiceover says,

"I dream of you. Kissing you. Holding You. The feel of your skin against mine. I love you."

The scene then cuts to a man riding a horse with hands tied. The rider naturally falls off the horse after a while. It is later revealed that the man, Rishi Magari (Rudi Dharmalingam), is one of the missing people in the show. Vanessa's connection with the plot pertains to Rishi.
