Gilmore Girls is a lifestyle. And even after more than two decades since the show first came to our screens, it still has its fans going gaga over it. It is the kind of show you rewatch for comfort. Or, to get nostalgic over the witty banter, heartwarming relationships, and charm of Stars Hollow.

Lorelai's sharp humor and clever comebacks still feel so fresh and fans still miss her dynamic with Luke (Scott Patterson). They miss the irresistible push-and-pull of their relationship. Even though they get a glimpse of all things Gilmore Girls through its proud ambassador, Patterson.

And then there’s Rory, who somehow managed to balance being Lorelai’s daughter and her best friend while also occasionally taking on the role of Lorelai’s parent. Their unique bond is the heart of the show. And fans can’t help but long for those moments of their rapid-talking, pop-culture-filled exchanges. It’s a legacy that never fades.

So, let’s take a walk down memory lane with Scott Patterson as he reflects on his days on Gilmore Girls.

Gilmore Girls: Scott Patterson on playing Luke with Lorelai

Luke and Lorelai’s relationship in Gilmore Girls is one of the major reasons why fans feel like going back and rewatching a few of those episodes. It was a blend of slow-burn romance and undeniable chemistry that kept fans hooked.

Their banter, full of wit and sarcasm, perfectly captured their dynamic. Luke is gruff yet caring. And it balances Lorelai’s quick humor and quirky charm. Their heated debates at the diner and the stolen glances are loved by fans.

Their love story was as messy as it was heartwarming. Fans still fondly recall the will-they-won’t-they tension that simmered for years. It made every small moment between them feel electric.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Scott Patterson shared his experiences of working with Lauren Graham. He said:

“…she's a very skilled and well-trained actress, and we have similar processes. Why I loved working with her so much is because she understands that the character and the show and the scene develops in rehearsal. It's a process. I always thought the rehearsal process is where everything lived and died…”

He added:

“… she was so good. I don't want to use this word lightly, but she was just an amazing partner. She was a terrific partner in crime, because we both saw the rehearsal process as something where it was our individual responsibilities and our responsibilities as partners to make this scene as good as it could possibly be…”

Gilmore Girls: Luke as a father figure and his thoughts on who the right guy is for Rory

Luke is the flannel-wearing, heart of Gilmore Girls. And he is so much more than just the guy behind the counter at Luke's diner. What really makes Luke unforgettable, though, is the way he becomes like a father figure to Rory. He provides her with a safe space at his diner and is always protective of her. We also get to see him as a father when April enters his life.

In the interview with Screen Rant, he talks about how he has watched April grow up over the years. He shared:

“I have over the years gotten to watch her grow up. She's very much the same. She's just even more so than when she was... first on the show. She was so precocious and so on it, and so smart. She was so impressive.”

When asked about his thoughts on the right guy for Rory, he said:

“I don't think she's met him yet. I will say, if Jess really got his act together, and it seems that he did, he probably would be it. I think really all of them, if they get their acts together, could be good enough for her... if Logan grew up a little bit, it could be him. Dean could get there. Even the Wookie could get there.”

Gilmore Girls: Scott Patterson on Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood's "Holidays Made Here" event, and the Walmart ad

At Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood’s “Holidays Made Here” event, Stars Hollow of Gilmore Girls was brought back to life. It was complete with merch, cheerful fans, and, of course, Scott Patterson himself.

In the interview with Screen Rant, he shared:

“This is such a great fan celebration, and they're all so happy and pleased. We're in the happiness business, you know? Warner Brothers pulled out all the stops. These sets are maybe even better than the real thing when they filmed it.
I mean, they are just so much more colorful, and there is tons of merch. You can go into every location and it has a merch store with really varied and interesting merch. There's very clever stuff that you would really want to save and take home and give as gifts. It's quite amazing, the job that they've done, the detail that they've brought to bear. It's real craftsmanship.”

Also, this holiday season, Gilmore Girls fans were treated to a delightful surprise as Lauren Graham, Scott Patterson, and Sean Gunn reunited for a heartwarming Walmart commercial. The ad was all about the series' most beloved moments and hinted at new layers of character growth.

When asked about how it feels to be back in the iconic role for a Walmart ad, Patterson shared:

“I think when a company like Wal-Mart makes an offer like that, it really solidifies that this show has grown into some kind of grand status on a global basis, or at least on a national basis. It definitely a global fan base. What can I say? It's a fun ride. I got really lucky. I'm a part of something that's really big, and it's getting bigger every day. And now it's on Hulu, so people are going to be able to stream it on Netflix and Hulu at the same time. So take your pick. You know, it's just amazing.”
