CBS Ghosts Season 4 has built a lot of suspense around Hetty's latent powers. The biggest quirk of the comedy series is the ghostly powers of the various spirits residing in the Woodtsone mansion, and it will get a new addition in Hetty in the upcoming episode.
The synopsis of the upcoming episode, which will air on March 13, 2025, reads as follows:
"Hetty’s ghost power is revealed when Jay’s cousin Sunil visits Woodstone Mansion on St. Patrick’s Day."

Ghosts Season 4 Episode 16 will uncover Hetty's power
Hetty's powers have been a hot topic in Ghosts Season 4, and it looks like the upcoming season will finally uncover what they are. While Hetty is part of the ghost ensemble from the previous three seasons, she struggles to fit within the group because of the lack of a latent power.
All the other spirits in the house seem to have power; Hetty has struggled to recognize hers, especially in Season 4. The upcoming episode will finally reveal what it is, and the fans can look forward to another quirk added to the list.
In an interview with TV Line, Utkarsh Ambudkar (Jay) teased about Hett's power:
''You wouldn’t be able to guess what it is. It’s wild, and the reason why it manifests is even wilder. It’s insane what the writers are doing this season. It’s really funny.''
To this, Rose McIver (Sam) added:
''It is one of the more impressive ghost powers. If there were tiers, it’s top tier.''
Exploring Reddit speculations around Hetty's latent powers
While the teaser did not hint at Hetty's actual power, Reddit fans have been speculating on it for quite some time. While the wait will finally be over in the upcoming episode, let's look at some of Reddit's speculations and theories.
Considering that Hetty once possessed Jay's body in Season 4, and there was also a Christmas special episode this season, which showed Jay temporarily seeing the ghosts after being possessed by Pete, a user, u/TheGoosiestGal suggests that Hetty's power could be related to this:
''I think it will be that she can touch livings and make them see ghosts for a short time. That would open up some stories lines and funny dynamics.''
Another user, u/QuiltedPorcupine, notes:
''I wonder if it will have something to do with how Jay ends up being able to see ghosts, at least temporarily. Being able to see ghosts as an adult seems like a very rare condition so it would be a bit odd for Jay to just have something happen to him that gave him the ability to see ghosts.''
Another popular theory floating around is that Hetty's power might involve phones, considering she died by telephone cord strangulation. All the spirits' powers are somehow related to their mode of death. So, it would make sense to include that for Hetty as well, as, u/mickffff, notes:
''It makes me think that phones may indeed be involved.''
