Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage marks the third show in The Big Bang Theory franchise and is a direct sequel to Young Sheldon. The series premiered on CBS on October 17, 2024, and continues the story of the newlyweds Georgie, played by Montana Jordan, and Mandy, played by Emily Osment.

Despite their age gap, the couple lives with Mandy’s family and are deeply in love. The two also have their baby girl to take care of, who they welcomed in the sixth season of Young Sheldon.

The baby was named Constance by her parents, leaving fans wondering why Georgie and Mandy chose this traditional name for their daughter. The name is a nod to Georgie’s grandmother, Connie Tucker, aka Meemaw, played by Annie Potts.

Constance is the first name of Georgie, Sheldon, and Missy’s maternal grandmother, who they affectionately call Meemaw. While she is popular by the name Connie Tucker, it is a nickname for Constance.

Georgie and Mandy’s daughter's name is a tribute to Meemaw, who stood by the latter's side during her pregnancy. She took great care of her, encouraged her, and even gave her the famous Brisket dish.

Hence, while the couple initially considered naming their child Alice, they ultimately decided on Constance. The parents announced the name shortly after the baby was born at Medford Community Hospital in the sixth season of Young Sheldon. They eventually started calling her Cece, a short name for Constance.

Meanwhile, Sheldon lovingly calls her Nibling. There was also a discussion around the child's last name as Mandy was unsure of giving the baby the surname ‘Cooper.’ However, after some reluctance, she agreed to go with Georgie’s surname, and the baby is named Constance Cooper.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage creator revealed the inspiration behind the baby’s name

Steve Holland, the co-creator of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage and the showrunner of Young Sheldon, addressed the baby’s name in an interview with TVLine, confirming that she is named after Meemaw.

Holland stated that the creative team discussed several names before finalizing Constance as a tribute to Connie Cooper since she has always been there for Mandy. The creator said in the interview:

“We tossed around a bunch, but Meemaw has done so much for Mandy since she got pregnant. Georgie has, too, but Meemaw’s really been the one who’s been there for her, so it seemed like a really sweet nod to Meemaw.”

Cece appeared in several episodes of Young Sheldon, and her character will be in the spotlight in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, as the newly married couple deals with the struggles of parenthood.

Did Constance appear in The Big Band Theory?

While the grown-up versions of several Young Sheldon characters were seen in The Big Bang Theory, Constance Cooper, aka Cece, did not find a mention in the original sitcom. Though an older Georgie, played by Jerry O'Connell, made some appearances on the show, he was not accompanied by Mandy or Cece.

It was mentioned that Georgie has faced several issues in his love life over the years, which will likely be addressed in the later seasons of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. At the same time, Many and Cece’s absence from TBBT might also be explained by the creators in the future seasons.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage also stars Rachel Bay Jones as Audrey McAllister, Will Sasso as Jim McAllister, Dougie Baldwin as Connor McAllister, and Jessie Prez as Ruben. Zoe Perry, Annie Potts, Raegan Revord, and Craig T. Nelson reprise their roles from Young Sheldon in guest capacities.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage airs new episodes on CBS on Thursdays at 8 PM ET/PT.
