The show first debuted on Netflix in 2022 and continues the Addams Family-related narrative, focusing on Wednesday Addams as she pursues her education at the Nevermore Academy to become a successful psychic.
Wednesday quickly rose to great prominence and became one of the most-watched shows that Netflix has to offer. Speaking to Variety during the Golden Globe Awards in January 2023, Jenna Ortega had herself foreshadowed Lady Gaga's entry to the show in a way when she stated a potential storyline that might fight the character of Mother Monster. She said:
"I'm sure Netflix would love that. I think Mrs. Thornhill and Wednesday had this weird mentor relationship or kind of understood each other in a certain way, so, if Lady Gaga were to be a part, I think it would have to be two monsters that understand each other."
Apart from Jenna Ortega, the other cast members that will be appearing on Wednesday season 2 include Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Owen Painter, Noah Taylor, and Evie Templeton.
