G20: Release date, plot, cast and more about the upcoming Prime Video action thriller starring Viola Davis

A plot based on a US President fighting a bunch of terrorists and saving the day continues to thrill after all these years, although a lot of movies have already been made on the theme.

G20 casts Viola Davis as a Black woman President who teaches the villains a lesson. The new action thriller casts Davis as Danielle Sutton, the American President who finds herself under siege during a terrorist attack at a G20 summit.

Scheduled to release on Prime Video on April 10, 2025, G20 promises all the elements needed to make an intense action thriller, to keep the viewers on the edge of their seats. Academy Award winner Davis has impressed as an action hero in The Woman King, and fans hope to see her scoring again in the genre with G20.

According to Variety, director Patricia Riggen said in a statement:

“With G20, I wanted to make the kind of classic, edge-of-your-seat action film that I’ve always been such a fan of, but one that draws on the high stakes of our modern, technologically advanced world we live in.”

G20 release date

As mentioned, G20 will premiere on Amazon Prime on April 10, 2025, and will be available to watch exclusively on the streaming platform. Viewers would need to have an active subscription plan to watch the film.

G20 follows President Danielle Sutton, who attends the G20 summit in Cape Town, South Africa. The who’s who of world politics are present at the summit and while things start off fine, all hell breaks loose when terrorists attack the summit with the aim of causing financial and political chaos.

The official synopsis of G20, according to Rotten Tomatoes, reads:

“When the G20 summit comes under siege, U.S. President Danielle Sutton (Academy Award® winner Viola Davis) becomes the number one target. After evading capture by the attackers, she must outsmart the enemy to protect her family, defend her country and safeguard world leaders in this action-packed thrill ride.”

As is clear from the synopsis, Sutton life is in peril, and she must protect herself and her loved ones while also defending her country.
