Saturday Night Live on Sunday, April 6, 2025, served The Cold Open with an enactment of President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. The latter's role was enacted by Mike Myers, who, as he appeared on the podium with the President, introduced a "self-vandalizing" Tesla model that would be a great hit among the protestors, as they won't have to destroy the cars themselves; the car would do all the work.
The Saturday Night Live script is in light of the many "Hands Off" protests going on in the country against the President and Elon after the reciprocal tariffs were announced and the stock market plummeted, affecting millions of Americans and even global citizens.
Protestors are stationed outside of various Tesla dealerships and are even destroying the cars as a way to showcase their resentment towards the government and how Elon is a key part of the same.
Saturday Night Live added a humorous spin on the situation with their rendition of Elon Musk announcing,
"Recently, our dealerships have been the target of many attacks, and suddenly, no one likes Tesla cars. So I asked myself, 'Why?' And then I answered myself, 'Because of me.'
He added,
"Which is why we are introducing the Tesla Model V, the first electric car in history to be fully self-vandalizing, with features like fully self-smashing headlights, self-slashing tires, and AI-powered graffiti. You can choose from p*nises or swastikas, or, you know, my favorite, a swastika made out of p*nises."
Saturday Night Live, Mike Myers impersonates Elon Musk and introduces a new Tesla model that self-vandalizes
Saturday Night Live, during the Cold Open, introduced a new Tesla Model V that self-vandalizes and thus, must be of great help to the protestors who are against the tariffs. However, Elon Musk, after watching the sketch, commented on his parody through his platform X, and wrote,
"SNL hasn’t been funny in a long time. They are their own parody."
Elon has also shared his views about the protests and how they appear staged to him because they "have no idea what they are even there for." Media platforms have reported that there were more than 1200 rallies held across the 50 states where the protestors claimed their opposition towards the recent government policies.
This is dubbed as the biggest demonstration since Trump returned to the White House in 2025.
Saturday Night Live mainly had the sketch of President Trump introducing the reciprocal tariffs during his speech at the Rose Garden, "announcing his economic vision for America." The introduction claimed that it was a "total home run," just "like everything else so far in his presidency."
Saturday Night Live airs on NBC weekly on Sundays, and the latest episodes are all available to stream online on Peacock.
