Shark Tank judge Robert Herjavec's appearance on The School of Greatness podcast, aired on February 5, 2025, featured various discussions. While sharing many things with the podcast host, Lewis Howes, the tech entrepreneur, revealed an interesting concept.
For the final question, the host, Lewis Howes, asked the Shark Tank mentor his definition of greatness. Responding to him, Robert Herjavec mentioned:
"My dad was a great man, and my mom was a great person, and my definition of greatness would be fulfillment of potential. So, my dad never made any real money. But I think considering the pain and life he had, that man rung every moment of this life."
Shark Tank mentor Robert Herjavec and podcast host Lewis Howes share their definition of "greatness"
While answering the hosts' question about his definition of greatness, Robert continued and mentioned that if he hadn't been doing "more" than what his dad left for him, that wouldn't have been "greatness." Referring to that, the Shark Tank mentor shared a key lesson that can help entrepreneurs through their journey:
"Those that are given more need to do more. Those that have been given more need to find greater purpose. So I never think that it just wasn't enough, right? Like I couldn't have achieved greatness if I just simply did what my parents did. And I think a lot of people listening it's the same thing is you've got to find your own purpose."
After answering the question, the Shark Tank's mentor counter-questioned the host and asked him his definition of greatness.
The School of Greatness podcast host answered that:
"For me, it is to discover your unique talents and gifts that you have been given, and pursue those gifts to live your dreams and in pursuit of those dreams, make the maximum impact on the people around you."
Listening to that, Robert was in awe. Lewis Howes continued. He mentioned that we all are given "different talents and gifts." We all need to "learn to cultivate." Lewis mentioned that wherever there was curiosity, there was "something" that pulled individuals into an idea that might lead toward a "potential dream."
He talked about "God" and "intuition" and a "feeling" that keeps pulling individuals towards doing what they are supposed to do.
"Something, whether it's God or intuition or a feeling that's pulling us or making us think about something. I like to create that, I like to build that, I like to overcome that, I like to help this thing, I like to make this thing, something that pulls us, and then we are, we need to cultivate the talents and gifts within us to pursue that dream, and in that pursuit," stated Lewis
Further, he also talked about how while pursuing a dream, you also impact people around you, especially the people that are closest to you.
Listening to that, Shark Tank's mentor said that it was "so well said" and that it all goes back to God and faith.
