Season 3, episode 5 of From, sees the brutal death of Dale. In episode five's town meeting, Tabitha remembers that the faraway tree transported her to the lighthouse before she fell from it to come back to Maine again.

This gives others, along with Dale, the hope that maybe there is a way out. Dale decides to go to the faraway tree's portal despite Tabitha and Jade warning him that the trees are unpredictable. Hoping he'll find a way to the real world, Dale climbs onto the trees.

Boyd and the rest of the residents are disturbed when they find Dale infused with the concrete wall of the swimming pool. With parts of his body outside and other parts of his body inside the wall, Dale suffocates and dies an agonizing death despite Boyd's attempts to save him.

The episode also saw Boyd lose his temper at Officer Acosta, who informs him that while she can't take back the things she's done, she can offer help. This does not seem to smooth things between her and Boyd, as he begins to yell at her for everything she did wrong the night before. Boyd regrets his action as he sees Officer Acosta leave.

In the episode, a wounded Randall also reaches Colony House. While Marielle takes care of his wounds, she realizes Randall's cheek skin is detached. Pushing Marielle away, Randall loses his calm, and things get worse when Boyd tries to help restrain him. Randall blames Boyd for his wounds.

While this is happening inside the Colony House, outside of the house, Jade and Kenny come back from the woods to help Kristi in the aftermath of the bear trap accident. Kristi is taken inside by Marielle and Boyd, who tells them what happened in the night. He informs them of a town meeting, but Jade leaves quickly before he's done.

The episode also saw chaos at the town meeting due to Tabitha's return as she returned without help to get them out. While Officer Acosta stands by Tabitha, the latter leaves the meeting overwhelmed. With the other residents now wanting to climb the trees, Boyd is seen calming them down and convincing them of the dangers of the trees.

After storming off from the meeting, Tabitha tells Jim she wants to return to the trees. Convincing her not to, Jim lets Tabitha investigate if Ethan will remain home with Jim.

The scene then jumps to Jade and Tabitha picking pieces of paper at the bottle tree. The pieces of paper seem to have four-digit numbers, making Jade think they might hint at dates. Jade later sits down and talks about the concrete slabs, the symbol, and children saying "anghkooey" repeatedly.

Donna talks to Henry, assuring him that they are trying to find his son. Victor is also on his way to the Colony House with Sara to prepare for the tunnels, but they stop when they see everyone. Donna informs Victor about Nicky and Randall.

Donna also informs Victor that his dad is here, which leads him to postpone getting Jasper the ventriloquist doll with Sara. Tabitha also tells Jim, Julie, and Ethan about her time in the real world. Jade interrupts her and asks her about the bottle tree and lighthouse.

While Kenny tells Boyd about their trip in the woods, Randall is at the clinic. Kenny wonders why Randall wasn't killed by the monsters, to which Boyd suggests that the monsters probably wanted to send the residents a warning.

The episode also sees Marielle inform Kristi of Nicky's death. While Marielle is helping Kristi with her foot, Kristi requests Marielle not to beat herself up for it, but the latter thinks that she indirectly does not want her to go back to opioids.

As Marielle makes amends with Kristi, both hear Randall start to wake up in pain. Feeling guilty for leaving him, Boyd tries to meet Randall, but Marielle advises him against it.
