From is a dark and disturbingly twisted drama that has kept viewers hooked since it began airing in 2022. The series is about a mysterious town in Middle America that eludes innocent travelers or passersby, only to give them a rude awakening. Whoever enters has never been able to escape, nor have they made it out alive if they’ve managed to leave.
However, the more haunting ordeal is the malevolent creatures lurking in the forest surrounding the town, waiting to feast on them. Moreover, the series explores themes of horror, thriller, and drama.
Recently, MGM+ announced the show’s renewal for season 3 and revealed the release date: October 9, 2024. This comes almost in time for Halloween—a fitting ordeal. Before gearing up to binge the newest season, let’s recap the events from season 2!
What was the Lighthouse mystery about in From Season 2?
The Lighthouse has been a source of fascination and horror for fans who’ve kept up with the first season of the series. Its eerie presence since season 1 had fans questioning whether there was a supernatural link.
Indeed, the Lighthouse has a supernatural connection. It would often appear in Tabitha’s visions along with the children. The Lighthouse is also where most would teleport to from the iconic yet haunting ‘Bottle Tree.’
In season 2, Victor revealed the origins of the tree and its true purpose. Speaking to a concerned Tabitha, Victor explained that the tree would lead a person directly to the Lighthouse—where she later found herself.
What was Jade's vision with The Children in From Season 2?
Apart from Tabitha and Boyd, Jade was also in the spotlight during season 2 of From. Like most of the townsfolk, Jade kept having visions. He saw a strange and unsettling symbol and heard The Children chanting “Anghkooey.”
Perplexed and naturally freaked out, Jade pursued the vision and was led to a catacomb-like scene with multiple tunnels. After contemplating the obvious danger, he chose to proceed to figure out the nuances of the visions.
After what felt like ages, he reached a path with an opening; the silhouette of the symbol staring down. Suddenly, his vision with the children became a reality. However, it was gone in the blink of an eye, leaving Jade and viewers with more questions than answers.
Why did Abby ask Boyd to let Marielle and Randall suffer in From Season 2?
Boyd has been put through the wringer in season 2 of From. The protagonist has faced the brunt of being trapped in Fromsville several times. However, he remains adamant about escaping from the hellhole he and his friends are in.
Season 2 saw him deal with a literal ghost from his past during an intense situation. In episode 10 of the series, his friends Marielle and Randall are in agonizing pain with evil spirits from the forest possessing them, triggered by the music box.
Desperate to rescue them, Boyd attempts to destroy the box. However, in the heat of the moment, his body goes limp at the sight of his late wife Abby, who delivers a chilling warning.
She asked him to let them continue to suffer since their end would eventually come. Additionally, she insinuates being a medium for “It,” who sent the message through her. Lastly, she claims his hope is what the forest thrives on, shocking Boyd.
Despite the warning, Boyd destroys the music box, freeing Marielle and Randall, leaving him to ponder Abby’s words.
What happened to Tabitha in From Season 2?
In episode 10 of Season 2, Tabitha’s visions lead her to the enigmatic Lighthouse where she encounters The Boy in White. Initially, Tabitha felt no danger since he didn’t have a menacing aura about him.
Until he proceeds to apologize and roughly pushes her out the lighthouse window, causing her to plummet below. While many assumed she was dead (an ongoing speculation), Tabitha was seen battered with cuts all over her face and in a hospital gown, greeted by doctors.
After awakening, she was informed of being in a coma and her injured self was discovered by hikers. Whether or not she’s truly dead or alive on the outside is what season 3 will explore.
What will From Season 3 be about?
Season 3 will explore the aftermath of Tabitha, Boyd, Jade, Marielle, Randall, and the town's fate after a tumultuous journey. It will also determine whether or not an escape is truly possible and might uncover the secret to defeating the dark forces lurking in the forests.
Addionally it will unravel the several unanswered mysteries about The Children, The Lighthouse, and Ciccadas to name a few. The third installment of From is set to get even darker than before!
In a teaser for the new season, Boyd was seen carrying several bodies with his friends, through town. Additionally, his shirt had plenty of bloodstains suggesting something major could've gone down.
Moreover, as the teaser ended, he was also seen asking an anonymous woman to endure whatever torture she was being inflicted with. The woman’s screams were bone-chilling and echoed as the trailer concluded.
Season 3 of From will air on MGM+ on October 9, 2024.
