Shark Tank investor Mark Cuban says he is a tech guy and thus tries to stay updated, especially when it affects his daily life. In a video for People on YouTube, Mark shared how he has adjusted his parenting approach in the digital age.
To stay connected with his children, the Shark Tank investor says he has embraced the ever-evolving algorithm of social media platforms and its various online trends.
In the video, he said that staying informed about what his kids are watching or scrolling is a unique way of building relationships. It is because the kids' algorithm helps them figure out their interests.
Mark Cuban says he pays attention to what his children are watching or scrolling about as he can learn much from it. Giving an example, Mark says that he has learned the meaning of the word "skibidi," which is a new slang among the younger generation.
He does not use social media as just an entertainment space but also a technology that helps him get insight into his children's interactions and interests. Talking about the same, he said,
"Rule #1: Follow the Scroll! Oh my goodness, I learn so much from my kids! I recently learned what Skibidi is, and the world keeps changing. I keep learning from them because they are exposed to all these new technologies. Social media is an integral part of their lives, and as a tech guy, I have to understand that. I try to understand how algorithms influence their experiences."

Mark Cuban, the Shark Tank investor, says that social media shapes the opinions of those who use it. Inferring his thoughts, parents can use the technology in their favor to connect with their kids and their experiences in the digital age.
Talking about his son, Mark said that whenever he is driving and catches his son scrolling through Instagram or TikTok, he tries to take note of what he likes.
Mark says that there comes an age when staying connected to their kids is a tough task for the parents. At the beginning of the video, he joked about how he mostly works from home. So, that gives his children a chance to "ignore" him in person.
Thus, this is one of the methods through which he tries to build a bond. The Shark Tank investor said,
"When I'm driving my son and we stop at a red light, I can glance over and see him scrolling through Instagram or TikTok. I immediately know what he's interested in, and that helps me connect with him. For any parent, building that connection can be tough, but staying informed makes all the difference."
Beyond digital parenting, Mark also talked about the value of independence. He said, "If you can't stand alone, you can't stay together."
Elaborating on that point, Shark Tank's Mark Cuban appreciated his wife and said that she has a personality that she keeps up even when he is not physically present with her. They have set their specific roles in the partnership of raising the kids, and he says he is "proud" of her.
Shark Tank season 16 episodes can be watched weekly on ABC at 8 PM Eastern Time on Fridays. They are later available to watch on Hulu.
