As a result, the flu ended Birch's life, and now Eve is seen blaming herself for the loss. Following the conflicting reports from the coroner and no definite answer from the doctor, Bode encouraged Eve to ask Birch's sister for an autopsy.
But before it can be done, someone convinces Wendy to cremate Birch, erasing any chance of discovering the truth. Later in the Fire Country Season 3 episode, Gabby's father, Manny, starts showing the same symptoms as Birch, raising questions about what really caused the crew member's death.
